POSITION TITLE: Speech/Language Pathologist
GRADES: K-12
STATUS: Full-Time, 10-month position
School Mission:
ASPIRA Delaware was established to educate and empower each student to realize their full potential and positively impact their communities.
Position Description:
ASPIRA Delaware is looking for a highly motivated Speech/Language Pathologist to respond to the individual needs and abilities of students in order to reach personal, social and intellectual development.
Responsibilities:
  • Screen students for possible speech and/or language deficiencies
  • Evaluate the speech/language skills of students in the school
  • Administer, interpret, and explain standardized speech and language results with all participants during eligibility determination meetings
  • Review, interpret, and explain standardized speech evaluation results received from other schools and districts to determine eligibility for services and/or to determine if additional assessments are needed for eligibility determination
  • Prepare comprehensive evaluation reports, ESR documents, progress summaries, and related compliance documents in accordance with Delaware Department of Education and Cost Recovery Program
  • Provide information when requested to parents and community through meetings, workshops, etc.
  • Keep accurate records and documentation of student participation and progress
  • Schedule individual and small group therapy sessions for eligible students identified as having speech/language needs
  • Provide tiered support for students identified as requiring intervention in the area of oral communication and listening comprehension
  • Implement therapy and strategies to meaningfully engage students to participate and practice targeted speech language expectations
  • Cooperate with school personnel to deliver services in accordance with each student's IEP
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Completion of a master's degree with an emphasis in speech-language pathology, communication disorders or speech-language and hearing science
  • Must hold or be eligible for Speech/Language Pathologist Professional License from the State of Delaware
  • ASHA certification preferred
  • Knowledge of ESL practices preferred
