Senior Virtualization Engineer
Location: San Antonio, TX
Clearance: TS/SCI Required
Salary: $150,000 - $170,000
Position Summary
PGTEK is seeking a highly experienced Senior Virtualization Engineer to support a mission-critical virtualization environment in San Antonio, TX. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9 and its core components, including vSphere, vSAN, NSX, and SDDC Manager.
This position will be responsible for deploying, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting VMware Cloud Foundation environments. The successful candidate should be comfortable working across the VCF stack and possess the technical depth necessary to troubleshoot complex virtualization and software-defined data center issues.
Key Responsibilities
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9 environments.
  • Administer and troubleshoot core VCF components, including:
    • VMware vSphere
    • VMware vSAN
    • VMware NSX
    • VMware SDDC Manager
  • Troubleshoot complex issues across the VCF stack and identify root causes.
  • Support the implementation and configuration of virtualization infrastructure in accordance with established technical requirements and best practices.
  • Monitor the health and performance of virtualized environments and address issues proactively.
  • Perform system upgrades, configuration changes, and other maintenance activities as required.
  • Assist with the integration and management of software-defined data center technologies.
  • Document configurations, troubleshooting activities, and technical procedures.
  • Collaborate with other engineering and technical teams to resolve infrastructure issues and support mission requirements.

Requirements
  • Extensive hands-on experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 9.
  • Strong technical experience with vSphere, vSAN, NSX, and SDDC Manager.
  • Demonstrated ability to deploy and troubleshoot VCF 9 environments.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise virtualization and software-defined data center technologies.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex virtualization infrastructure issues.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a senior-level engineering capacity.
Certifications
  • CompTIA Security+ required.
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) required.
  • VCP-VCF 9 Administrator certification preferred.
Work Location
This position is based in San Antonio, Texas. The role is expected to support the customer onsite.
Compensation
The anticipated compensation range for this position is $150,000 - $170,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
Clearance Requirement
Candidates must possess an active TS/SCI clearance to be considered for this position.
