Job description

Armed Safety Officer

The Armed Safety Officer (ASO) is a highly visible and professional security presence who plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, secure, and orderly environment across various client work sites. ASOs are responsible for safeguarding employees, visitors, contractors, and property, while consistently modeling the values of professionalism, respect, responsiveness, and cultural competence.

In addition to fulfilling the duties of a certified security officer, the ASO carries the added responsibility of being an armed professional. All ASOs must hold a valid Blue Card as required by the State of Georgia and demonstrate strict adherence to Valor Protection's safety, reporting, and use-of-force policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct proactive patrols across assigned work sites—interior spaces, perimeters, and parking areas—to deter misconduct, address safety hazards, and maintain order.
  • Respond immediately to emergencies such as disturbances, facility threats, accidents, or medical incidents. Follow site-specific emergency protocols and assist in crisis management efforts.
  • Safely carry, maintain, and responsibly deploy a firearm in strict compliance with Georgia Blue Card licensing requirements and Valor Protection's use-of-force policies. Prioritize de-escalation while maintaining readiness for immediate response.
  • Enforce entry and exit protocols, verify credentials, monitor security checkpoints, and ensure compliance with client site procedures.
  • Use trauma-informed and professional de-escalation strategies to resolve conflicts, maintaining dignity and safety. Exercise armed authority only as a last resort.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with client representatives, employees, and visitors. Serve as a trusted professional presence while reinforcing site expectations.
  • Accurately log incidents, observations, and enforcement actions using Valor Protection's reporting systems. Provide timely reports to both client contacts and Valor Protection leadership.
  • Develop and execute tailored security plans for client events, high-traffic periods, or special assignments. Ensure preparedness for crowd management and emergency contingencies.
  • Provide immediate medical aid during emergencies, applying CPR, AED, or first aid as required, while coordinating with emergency services.
Compensation

$19 – $21 per hour (reflecting armed officer responsibilities and Blue Card certification).

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED (required); Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Valid Blue Card issued by the State of Georgia (required)
  • Valid Security Officer certification from the State of Georgia
  • Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification
  • Prior experience in armed security, law enforcement, military service, or comparable safety roles
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proven ability in conflict resolution and crisis response
  • Physical ability to walk/stand for extended periods and respond swiftly to emergencies
  • Commitment to continuous training in safety, threat assessment, and DEI principles
Desired Attributes
  • Professional appearance, demeanor, and command presence
  • Calm and decisive under pressure with strong emotional intelligence
  • Approachable, respectful, and culturally competent across diverse client settings
  • Keen observational skills with attention to detail in dynamic environments
  • Adaptable and solution-oriented in changing work conditions
  • Collaborative team player committed to client satisfaction and Valor Protection's standards
  • Consistently models Valor Protection's core values: Excellence, Integrity, Professionalism, Education, and Partnership
