Job description

Job Title:  ASL/Sign Language Interpreter

Job Description: Provides interpreting services in a variety of settings in the community for individuals in need of signed interpreting.

Job Relationships:  Responsible to: Erie Office ASL Interpreting Coordinator

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in Interpreting or a high school diploma with coursework and/or workshops in interpreting and deafness
  • Fluency in American Sign Language
  • RID/NAD certification desired
  • In-depth knowledge and adherence to the RID Code of Professional Conduct
  • Some experience interpreting in a variety of settings using various communication modes
  • Current Act 33 and 34/151 clearances are required

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Provide the highest quality interpretation services for Deaf consumers
  • Will effectively interpret between ASL and spoken English
  • Must have the ability to work in a variety of settings throughout the community
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Varying schedule that you control
  • Using USked system to accept jobs and manage your hours
