Job description

We're partnering with a local school team to hire an ASL Paraprofessional for the 2026-2027 school year in Dakota County, Minnesota. In this role, you'll support Deaf/Hard of Hearing students who use American Sign Language (ASL) by helping them access instruction, participate in classroom activities, and navigate the school day with confidence--working closely with the classroom teacher and student support team.
As an ASL Paraprofessional, you'll provide in-class and school-day support to students who use ASL for communication. You'll reinforce instruction, support communication between the student and the classroom environment, and help promote meaningful inclusion throughout the day.
Position Details:

  • Location: Dakota County, MN (on-site)
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday during standard school hours
  • Hours: Approximately 33.75 hours/week
  • School Year: 2026/2027
  • Start Date / End Date: Aug. 30, 2026 - Jun. 9, 2027
  • Pay Range: $25-$29/hour

Responsibilities:
  • Provide ASL support so students can access classroom instruction and participate fully in learning activities.
  • Support communication among the student, teacher, and peers using a mix of ASL and voicing, as appropriate to the setting and team plan.
  • Reinforce teacher-led instruction and assist with assignments and classroom routines.
  • Provide 1:1 and/or small-group support as assigned, including during transitions and non-classroom times such as arrival/dismissal, lunch, recess, and specials.
  • Follow student support plans and classroom accommodations as directed by the supervising teacher and service team.
  • Observe and document relevant day-to-day needs and progress, sharing updates with the team to support continuity of care and instruction.

Qualifications:
  • Strong ASL skills required; school-based interpreting or support experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with students in a school setting preferred; paraeducator, EA, or TA experience a plus.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality, follow direction consistently, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Reliable and steady presence; able to support student needs throughout a busy school day.
  • Two supervisor references requested within the last 3 years, per job notes.
