BAIN CAPITAL SPECIAL SITUATIONS OVERVIEW

Bain Capital Special Situations has $19 billion in assets under management and has invested $35 billion in more than 900 deals across a balanced geographic mix of investments in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific since its founding in 2002. DEAL TEAM OVERVIEW

The North America Special Situations Deal Team is composed of 25 team members, who spend their time sourcing investment opportunities, conducting due diligence, preparing investment recommendations, and monitoring the universe of investments they follow. Team members interact regularly with the Investment Committee and Portfolio Management teams to communicate and refine their recommendations, as well as collaborate extensively with their peers across the broader Bain Capital platform. We are currently hiring a VP to work with our Global Special Situations group in our Boston office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead all day-to-day activities throughout the life of an investment from sourcing, financing, oversight and preparation of models and Investment Committee materials, asset management/strategy, and dispositions.
  • Perform industry-level analyses, including market data research, speaking to industry experts, and attending industry conferences to inform the investment process and provide critical context.
  • Make proactive investment/disposition recommendations and effectively communicate views to team members.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong academic credentials (BS/BA from highly-regarded institution) and a demonstrated track record of successful work experience.
  • 5-8 years of professional experience in investment banking, investment management, or consulting.
  • Strong technical and quantitative skills including financial statement analysis and modeling capabilities.
  • A fundamental, analytically driven approach to investing and evaluating companies with strong analytical/modeling capabilities.
  • Ability to anticipate and identify company, industry, and market developments and support insights with research and analysis.
  • Strong professional writing and communication skills with the ability to deliver investment committee and other internal materials.
  • Experience interacting with and assessing senior management teams; demonstrated relationship-building and networking skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to synthesize complicated analyses concisely and to articulate insightful conclusions compellingly. Open to spirited debate over ideas.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in team environments, both internally and with our external operating partners, lenders, brokers, etc.
