About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, organized, and driven Catering Sous Chef to join our culinary team. This role requires a hands-on leader with a passion for producing high-quality food across a variety of cuisines while maintaining exceptional organization in both the kitchen and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced catering environment, can lead a team with confidence, and understands the importance of consistency, food cost control, and communication.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Executive Chef in all catering kitchen operations and daily production.
  • Prepare and execute high-volume catering events featuring a variety of cuisines and service styles.
  • Lead, train, and supervise kitchen staff to ensure quality, efficiency, and professionalism.
  • Maintain consistency in food quality, presentation, and portion control.
  • Assist with menu development, seasonal specials, and recipe standardization.
  • Monitor inventory, place orders, and manage food costs while minimizing waste.
  • Ensure all food safety, sanitation, and HACCP standards are consistently followed.
  • Coordinate production timelines to meet delivery and event schedules.
  • Communicate effectively with the catering sales team and front-of-house staff.
  • Respond professionally to emails regarding catering production, event logistics, vendor communication, and scheduling.
  • Maintain organized production schedules, prep lists, recipes, and kitchen documentation.
  • Assist with staffing, scheduling, and coaching kitchen employees.
  • Step into the Executive Chef's role when needed.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of Sous Chef experience, preferably in catering, banquet, hotel, or high-volume restaurant operations.
  • Experience preparing multiple cuisines, including American, Italian, Asian, Mediterranean, Latin, and other international menus.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, costing, and inventory management.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Highly organized with strong time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficient in professional email communication and basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or similar).
  • Ability to thrive under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Flexible schedule with availability for early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Current ServSafe Certification (or willingness to obtain) preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
