Job description

Position Overview
ASI is seeking a Product Manager / Product Owner to lead the development and commercialization of autonomous solutions within our grading and road construction verticals, with a primary focus on Dozer and Compactor robotic platforms.
This role owns the product lifecycle end-to-end-from market definition and customer requirements through development, deployment, and scaling. You will operate at the intersection of construction expertise, robotics technology, and product strategy, ensuring our solutions deliver measurable value in real-world job site conditions.
You will be responsible for defining what we build, why it matters, and how we win in the construction autonomy market-balancing customer needs, technical feasibility, and business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Market Ownership
  • Define and own the product vision, roadmap, and strategy for autonomous dozer and compactor solutions.
  • Develop deep understanding of grading, earthmoving, and compaction workflows, identifying where autonomy creates the highest ROI.
  • Translate market needs into clear product requirements, use cases, and success metrics.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitors, and emerging technologies to inform product direction.
Product Development Leadership
  • Own scope, schedule, and budget for product initiatives exceeding $20M in NRE annually.
  • Partner with Engineering, Robotics, and Program teams to deliver high-quality, on-time product releases.
  • Prioritize features, fixes, and trade-offs based on customer value, safety, and deployment readiness.
  • Ensure alignment to ASI's Product Development Process while continuously improving execution.
Customer & Field Integration
  • Act as the voice of the customer, ensuring real-world construction requirements are embedded in product decisions.
  • Lead bi-monthly customer updates, communicating progress, risks, and roadmap alignment.
  • Participate in field deployments to validate product performance in live construction environments.
  • Ensure solutions are practical, durable, and scalable across varied job site conditions.
Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Coordinate across Engineering, Product Architecture, Program Management, and Business Development.
  • Drive alignment across stakeholders, ensuring clarity on priorities, deliverables, and trade-offs.
  • Influence without authority-building buy-in across technical and commercial teams.
  • Mentor and guide team members contributing to product success.
Business & Financial Ownership
  • Own product-level P&L inputs, forecasting, and budget management.
  • Support RFP responses, proposals, and customer engagements with clear technical and commercial positioning.
  • Define milestones, pricing inputs, and delivery schedules in partnership with Business Development.
  • Identify and mitigate risks across scope, cost, schedule, and technical execution.
Product Execution & Accountability
  • Accept full accountability for product success or failure.
  • Lead product status reviews with internal leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Drive a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and urgency across all product efforts.
  • Ensure all deliverables meet contractual, operational, and performance expectations.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Product Management, Product Ownership, or Program Leadership in complex technical environments.
  • Experience working with industrial equipment, heavy machinery, or construction technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale product development efforts ($10M+ scope).
  • Strong understanding of software + hardware product development lifecycles.
  • Proven ability to make high-quality decisions under ambiguity and competing priorities.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and aligning stakeholders at multiple levels.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and executive audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with autonomous systems, robotics, or machine control technologies.
  • Direct experience in grading, earthmoving, or road construction operations.
  • Familiarity with dozers, compactors, GPS machine control, or construction automation systems.
  • Experience owning or contributing to a product P&L.
  • Background in Agile or hybrid product development methodologies.
  • Experience working with OEMs, contractors, or large construction firms.
