Job description

Awp Nutrition Provider

At Ascent Wellness Program (AWP), we have a passion for inclusive, culturally-appropriate, and accessible wellness services for all identities, ages, backgrounds, and abilities. We're looking for motivated people like you to join our mission! As an equal opportunity employer and a company that serves an incredibly diverse group of clients, we love to receive applications from individuals with lives and stories as unique as the people we serve.

AWP is a one-of-a-kind local program dedicated to bringing yoga and mindfulness, fitness and personal training, outdoor services, nutrition services, physical therapy, peer support, art therapy, and music therapy to the Milwaukee community, with a particular focus on serving individuals in mental health recovery and people with disabilities.

The AWP Nutrition Provider is a full-time Nutritionist or Dietitian serving clients of all ages in mental health recovery, with an approach that follows AWP principles and mission to create accessible, inclusive, and fully-customized wellness services delivered on-site, in-home, outdoors, or via telehealth. The Nutrition Provider is responsible for supporting clients in making food an important part of their recovery journey through 1:1 interventions such nutrition counseling, dietary assessment, nutrition education, food journaling, meal planning, food preparation and cooking skills development, and tours of local food spaces (e.g., farmer's markets, grocery stores, food pantries).

Approximately 80% of current client referrals are requesting in-home services, meaning that a significant portion of the workday involves travel within Milwaukee county for in-home sessions.

Job Qualifications:

  • REQUIRED: Minimum Bachelor's degree. Must be a graduate of an accredited clinical nutritionist program (Nutritionist, Dietitian, Eating Disorder Specialist, Kinesiology Degree depending on school and # of credits in nutrition, or Nutrition and Dietetic Technician Registered (NDTR)).
  • At least one year of experience as a nutritionist, dietitian, or nutrition counselor (or similar role) preferred.
  • At least one year of experience related to healthcare, mental health, psychology, or social work preferred.
  • Excellent professional communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently with solid organization and time management skills.
  • Professional work experience related to mental health and healthcare is a plus.
  • Ability to speak multiple languages is a plus.

At Ascent Wellness Program, we know that the way we treat our providers ripples out into the services our clients receive, so our culture is one that values community, open communication, acceptance, and support. We want everyone to have what they need to be their best self personally and professionally, including work that is purpose-driven, learning opportunities for personal and professional growth, and financial stability.

Pay and Hours:

Our positions begin with an orientation period (approx. 2 weeks), during which employees receive valuable training on innovative, research-based body-mind practices, along with a gradual introduction to client services.

Full-time positions require 30-40 hours per week of work availability. Starting pay for full-time work ranges from $42,900 to $60,000 annually depending on volume of services provided, with future opportunities for pay increases and bonuses.
