About Ascent
Ascent Developer Solutions is a leading private lending platform, serving real estate developers nationwide in the acquisition, renovation, and construction of residential real estate. Founded by a leadership team with a deep understanding and personal experience in virtually every facet of real estate development, Ascent is uniquely positioned to create custom, innovative lending solutions for a variety of real estate development business strategies.
The Role.
The VP, Loan Officer is responsible for originating new loan opportunities and signing new Borrowers generated by leveraging their network and sphere of influence to generate business, as well as managing and converting leads provided through Ascent data sources. The role requires proactive outreach, strong relationship management, and consistent follow-up to drive loan production and meet their origination goals.
The Work.
  • Serve as the initial generator of new loan business for Ascent from sources outlined above. Work with internal teams, including Relationship Managers to build trusted long-term partnerships that drive client satisfaction, repeat business, and increased wallet share across Ascent's lending platform.
  • Work with internal teams including Relationship Managers to analyze and structure Multi-Family, Single Family, Homebuilder, Build-to-Rent and Manufactured Housing bridge, renovation and construction new loan opportunities.
  • As part of reviewing new loan opportunities, work with internal teams including Relationship Managers to evaluate Borrower financial packages and overall operational capability of the Borrower to determine Borrower qualifications, financial strength and ability to successfully execute the proposed project.
  • Present loan opportunities to internal and external approval authorities
  • Assist the Relationship Managers as needed with first time Borrower approval processes by managing Borrower expectations, coordinating with internal teams, and ensuring a seamless operational execution from receipt of initial Borrower needs lists through closing.
  • Assist the Relationship Managers as needed with the loan pipeline and collaborate with other departments to identify and resolve issues to improve loan execution and speed to closing.
  • Maintain regular communication with Borrowers through meetings, calls, and emails to ensure high satisfaction and retention
  • Utilize CRM and portfolio analytics to monitor Borrower activity, identify opportunities and track engagement.
  • Assist in resolving Borrower issues and help to proactively address risks within the portfolio
  • Support cross-functional initiatives and projects as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Sales Leadership

Your Skills and Experience.
  • 5+ years of experience originating in commercial real estate lending including: SFR, multi-residential and homebuilder / bridge, renovation and construction loans.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing and structuring commercial loan transactions.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills and proven ability to build and manage relationships with sophisticated Borrowers and cross-functional internal stakeholders while delivering exceptional client service.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with Borrowers and internal leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience required; California Real Estate License or the ability to obtain one is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, MS Office, CRM platforms, and other business applications.
  • Highly organized, analytical, and self-motivated, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and deadline-oriented environment.

Location.
  • This role works on-site from Ascent's Encino office, Monday - Thursday (Fridays are work-from-home).

  • Compensation is commensurate with that of top producers in the construction lending business, and flexible based on the proven ability to produce in our market segment.
