Ongoing training and collaboration with environmental consultants or remediation teams also support safe and accurate testing outcomes.

What is asbestos testing?

Asbestos testing is the process of identifying the presence and type of asbestos fibers in building materials, air, or dust samples. This is typically done to ensure the safety of occupants before renovation, demolition, or when asbestos-containing materials are suspected. Professional asbestos inspectors collect samples and send them to accredited laboratories for analysis. Testing is important because asbestos exposure can cause serious health problems, including lung disease and cancer. Proper testing helps guide safe removal and management of asbestos-containing materials.

Company Overview

HighGround is a private equity-backed leader in the disaster mitigation and property restoration services industry. The company was created in 2020 with the acquisition of Dry Force headquartered in Dallas, TX. Over the past five years, HighGround has expanded through strategic acquisitions and now operates fourteen leading restoration brands across the United States.

As HighGround continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced operational leader to help build, standardize, and scale our environmental services platform across multiple brands and markets.

Asbestos & Environmental Services Manager

Position Summary

The Asbestos & Environmental Services Manager is a platform-level operational leadership role responsible for building, growing, and standardizing asbestos and environmental services across HighGround's portfolio of restoration brands.

This is not a traditional field operations or project management position. We are seeking a proven operational leader who has progressed from hands-on asbestos abatement into business leadership and has successfully managed the operational and financial performance of an asbestos or environmental remediation business.

The Asbestos & Environmental Services Manager will partner with Brand General Managers and executive leadership to build scalable operating systems, develop standardized SOPs, improve profitability through KPI-driven decision making, ensure regulatory compliance, and support the continued growth of asbestos and environmental services across multiple brands and markets.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Partner with Brand General Managers to improve operational performance across multiple brands.
  • Drive revenue growth, gross margin improvement, and operational excellence within asbestos and environmental services.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs, dashboards, and operational scorecards to improve business performance.
  • Own operational planning, budgeting, forecasting, pricing strategy, and profitability initiatives.
  • Analyze business performance and implement corrective actions to improve productivity, quality, customer satisfaction, and financial results.
  • Support environmental service line expansion and acquisition integration across the HighGround platform.

Process Standardization

  • Develop and maintain the HighGround "Asbestos-in-a-Box" operating playbook.
  • Create standardized SOPs, workflows, estimating standards, project management processes, quality assurance programs, and operational controls.
  • Establish consistent estimating, pricing, scheduling, documentation, compliance, and project execution standards across all brands.
  • Build KPI dashboards and reporting tools using Power BI, DASH, and other business intelligence platforms.
  • Identify best practices and implement scalable systems that improve operational consistency across multiple markets.

Environmental Services Leadership

  • Serve as the company's subject matter expert for asbestos abatement and environmental remediation operations.
  • Support brands in growing asbestos abatement, asbestos testing, mold remediation, and related environmental services.
  • Provide operational guidance on estimating, project execution, licensing requirements, regulatory compliance, and environmental best practices.
  • Develop standardized operating procedures that can be implemented consistently across multiple locations.

Leadership & Talent Development

  • Coach and mentor Branch Managers, Operations Managers, and Environmental Services leaders.
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, succession planning, and leadership development.
  • Influence operational leaders across multiple brands without direct reporting authority.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, operational excellence, continuous improvement, and safety.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA asbestos standards, EPA/NESHAP regulations, AHERA requirements, and state-specific asbestos licensing requirements.
  • Develop compliance auditing processes and operational quality assurance programs.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and implement standardized compliance practices across all brands.
  • Reduce operational risk through documented procedures, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience within asbestos abatement or environmental remediation operations.
  • Demonstrated hands-on asbestos abatement experience prior to moving into leadership.
  • Current or previously held EPA/NESHAP-recognized asbestos certifications (expired certifications acceptable if eligible for renewal), such as:
    • AHERA Building Inspector
    • Asbestos Supervisor
    • Asbestos Contractor/Supervisor
    • Project Monitor
    • Management Planner
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA asbestos regulations, EPA/NESHAP requirements, and state asbestos licensing regulations.
  • Demonstrated ownership of business KPIs, operational dashboards, budgeting, forecasting, and P&L performance.
  • Experience leading multiple offices, business units, regions, or geographically dispersed operations.
  • Proven success developing SOPs, operational playbooks, standardized workflows, and scalable business systems.
  • Experience building and improving operational processes that increase profitability, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence leaders across multiple organizations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Restoration industry leadership experience.
