Job description

An established, multi-office environmental and engineering consulting firm serving public and private sector clients throughout California is adding a Certified Asbestos Consultant to its Southern California team. This is a chance to take ownership of a wide, underserved territory across LA, Orange County, and Riverside counties rather than inherit someone else's overloaded book of business. The role blends field inspection work with technical report writing, working closely with project managers, contractors, and agency representatives.
Required Qualifications:
• Active California Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) certification
• Active Lead Inspector certification
• Hands-on experience performing asbestos surveys, inspections, and bulk sampling
• Experience independently preparing technical reports, abatement specifications, and management plans
• Working knowledge of Cal/OSHA, EPA, and local air district regulations
• Comfortable working in field environments with PPE, including standing, walking, and occasional lifting
• Associate's or bachelor's degree in environmental science, occupational health, engineering, geology, or a related field preferred
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform asbestos surveys and inspections across commercial, industrial, and residential sites
• Conduct bulk sampling and exposure assessments
• Prepare technical reports, abatement specifications, and management plans
• Review contractor submittals and monitor abatement crews for compliance
• Coordinate with project managers, clients, and agency representatives
• Maintain detailed project documentation and support proposal development
• Contribute to firm health and safety programs
