SCHEDULE: 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
School Year Position (To include 10 days before organization day and 5 days following the last faculty day)
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent,
  • Internal candidates must have successfully completed Clerical Skills Proficiency &
Skyward Tests. AS400 experience required. Boyce training will be required going forward.
  • External candidates must have successfully completed of Clerical Skills Proficiency and Skyward tests within the probationary period.
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to demonstrate those skills,
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a positive manner with students, staff and public in stressful situations,
  • Internal candidates must have positive past employment evaluations,
  • Exhibits a pleasant disposition and promotes positive public relations within the school system and school,
  • Successful interview with Building Principal.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • Maintains a positive and pleasant attitude when working with parents, students, and other employees; refers outside inquiries to proper personnel.
  • Serves as personal and confidential secretary to the principal.
  • Handles communications, reports, records, and inquiries.
  • Keeps a calendar of all school events and communicates the calendar to staff and parents.
  • Responsible for maintaining all confidential and ordinary business files.
  • Types letters, memoranda, and reports accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Applies first-aid / medication in the absence of the nurse.
  • Has complete responsibility for substitute clerical staff, including all calls, all scheduling and coordinating for openings.
  • Orders supplies and materials in an appropriate and timely fashion.
  • Willingness to work beyond the normal working day as required in times of emergency.
  • Proven ability to keep an accurate bookkeeping system, including reconciling the bank statement, making bank deposits, handling revenues, expenditures, book rental and fees in accordance with State Board of Account guidelines.
  • Maintains accurate individual student records on computer system.
  • Demonstrates initiative when working with support staff and building personnel.
  • Operates a variety of office machines and utilizes a variety of computer programs.
  • Responsible for sorting and distributing mail.
  • Maintains payroll reports for clerical staff.
  • Determines that various work deadlines are met, and reduces peak workloads by temporarily transferring the school secretaries/aide from their regular duties to the more critical areas.
  • Other duties as assigned by the principal.
