What is an AS350 job?

An AS350 job typically refers to a position involving the operation, maintenance, or support of the Airbus AS350 helicopter, also known as the Écureuil or AStar. These jobs can include roles such as pilots, maintenance technicians, and ground support personnel working in industries like aviation, tourism, firefighting, law enforcement, or utility services. Responsibilities vary depending on the role but often include flying, inspecting, repairing, and ensuring the safe operation of the helicopter.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the As350 position, and why are they important?

To thrive as an AS350 pilot, you need a commercial helicopter pilot license (CPL(H)) with extensive experience in rotary-wing aviation, especially in the Airbus AS350 series. Familiarity with avionics systems, navigation equipment, and type ratings specific to the AS350 are often required. Strong situational awareness, decision-making abilities, and excellent communication enhance safety and effective operations. These skills and qualifications ensure safe and reliable flight operations, particularly in demanding environments such as aerial surveying, utility work, or passenger transport.

What are some typical missions or duties performed by an AS350 pilot?

AS350 pilots often engage in a variety of missions such as aerial surveying, search and rescue, utility work (like powerline inspection), charter passenger transport, and sometimes firefighting operations. Daily responsibilities may include pre-flight inspections, flight planning, maintaining communication with clients and ground crews, and strictly adhering to safety protocols. Work environments can range from remote field locations to busy metropolitan skies, requiring adaptability and keen attention to ever-changing conditions. This diversity allows AS350 pilots to build versatile experience, work closely with specialized teams, and develop expertise in sectors that value skilled, safety-focused aviators.
