POSITION SUMMARY

Willamette University seeks a pool of qualified music lesson instructors in the areas of trumpet, percussion, piano, and voice. Duties include weekly private instruction plus opportunities to coach small ensembles in area(s) of expertise, coordinate large ensemble sectionals, teach academic music courses as needed and according to background, as well as collaborate professionally with faculty and students in departmental musical offerings.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide up to 15 hours of lessons or other assignments per week, for a 14-week semester for a maximum 210 hours per semester.

  • Other remunerated hourly assignments, offered based on departmental need and in consultation with the Department Chair, may include recital and performance juries, assisting with auditions, chamber music and jazz combo coaching, ensemble conducting, and other collaborative performance opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum: Outstanding and active performer with evidence of successful teaching experience and a strong desire to motivate and see students succeed.

  • Preferred: Advanced degree in Music.

Typical Work Schedule: Lessons take place Monday through Friday based on student/instructor availability.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions: Typical work is performed indoors in a normal office environment.

Salary: $62.43/hour
