Job description

REPORTS TO: Artistic Associate

SUMMARY: St. Louis Symphony Orchestra Artist Services Assistant participates in a rotation of artistic concert duty, attending SLSO rehearsals and performances as needed to ensure adequate support to artists, guest soloists, and conductors. This role will include coordinating meals for guest artists, gathering hospitality items, setting/tearing down dressing rooms, escorting guest artists to and from activities, and other miscellaneous artist and departmental support as assigned.

This part time (temporary) position averages 10 hours per week (hours may vary and are not guaranteed). Compensation is $18/hour. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.     Artist Hospitality & Guest Services

  • Prepare dressing rooms and backstage hospitality spaces, including setup, stocking amenities, meal service, cleanup, and reset.
  • Pick up meals, hospitality orders, gifts, and other artist-related materials as needed.
  • Escort guest artists to rehearsals, performances, media appearances, meetings, and other scheduled activities in Powell Hall.
  • Serve as a welcoming on-site point of contact for guest artists during rehearsals and performances, helping address day-of needs as assigned.
  • Assist with coordinating arrivals, departures, luggage handling, and other hospitality support.

2.     Concert & Departmental Support

  • Participate in a rotating schedule of concert duty assignments during rehearsals, performances, and special events as needed.
  • Provide real-time logistical support during performances, including resolving transportation or hospitality issues that may arise.
  • Support Artistic and Operations staff with administrative or event-related tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality in all interactions with artists, conductors, donors, and guests.

3.     Artist Logistics

  • Communicate with Artistic and Operations staff regarding transportation schedules, itinerary updates, delays, and other logistical needs.
  • Monitor onsite logistics and real-time changes, working through and coordinating any follow up steps necessary.
