$15.00 - $19.89 PER HOUR
GENERAL PURPOSE:
The purpose of this position is to educate and develop relationships with our customers and continually grow sales in the artisan bread category. This person will be cutting artisan breads for customers using slicers and knives, preparing, baking, and packaging crostini, sampling products at the artisan counter and throughout the store, stocking the artisan counter, and providing exceptional customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Follows established departmental and store policies and procedures
  • Ensures the quality and freshness of all products and services the bakery provides
  • Responsible for maintaining the appropriate product assortment and inventory levels for the artisan bread counter
  • Confirms pricing accuracy and signage for all artisan bread products, paying particular attention to ad items
  • Ensures the artisan area is cleaned and sanitized daily and meets the company standards for appearance
  • Delivers excellent customer service to all customers
  • Educates customers about ingredients, flavor, cooking suggestions, and caring for Harmons' artisan breads
  • Removes prior day's bread from the shelf and tracks waste
  • Ensures that artisan breads and rolls are displayed all day throughout the store including the salad bar area
  • Prepares, packages, labels, and displays crostini
  • Actively promotes and sells artisan bread through sampling at the service counter and throughout the store

TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS:

Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities:
A high school diploma or GED preferred; one year of bakery or sales experience preferred; or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Current Food Handler's Permit
  • Enjoys working with and handling artisan breads and dough
  • Enjoys cooking and eating a variety of artisan bread products
  • Ability to sell and promote
  • Basic math skills used to half or double recipes
  • Knowledge of baking procedures and times
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures
  • Excellent organization and planning skills
  • Must possess solid communication skills, including verbal and listening skills in order to effectively and efficiently communicate with customers and fellow associates
  • Must possess the ability to accept constructive review and be accountable for one's own success as well as the success of your team
  • Makes logical, significant decisions using general, recognized skills and techniques
  • Must possess integrity, a positive attitude, be mission-driven, and be self-directed with a demonstrated passion for Harmons' mission and commitment to working collaboratively

Also requires standing, walking, and bending throughout the entire workday and the ability to maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 30 pounds from location to location.
