Job description

Telecom and Wireless Network Technician

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled5G/Telecom Network Engineerto join our team and contribute to the design, deployment, optimization, and maintenance of next-generation telecommunications networks. As a mid-level engineer, you will play a key role in implementing 5G systems, ensuring high performance, and troubleshooting issues within the network infrastructure. This role involves working with cross-functional teams to deliver advanced communication solutions to meet business and customer requirements.

What You'll Work On:

  • Design, configure, and deploy 5G and telecom network solutions, including radio access networks (RAN), core networks, and edge computing environments.

  • Assist in the integration and testing of 5G networks with existing LTE/4G infrastructures.

  • Conduct end-to-end network optimization, including performance tuning, capacity planning, and troubleshooting to maintain network quality standards.

  • Collaborate with teams to configure software-defined networking (SDN) and network function virtualization (NFV) solutions.

  • Support network rollouts, upgrades, and migrations, ensuring minimal disruption and downtime.

  • Monitor and analyze network performance to identify areas of improvement using tools like Wireshark, NetScout, or other telemetry/tracing systems.

  • Configure, update, and troubleshoot core network components, including routers, switches, and base stations.

  • Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures for 5G/telecom systems.

  • Provide technical support and collaborate with teams across project life cycles, from architecture to implementation.

You Have:

  • 3+ years of experience in telecommunications or mobile network engineering

  • Experience with disaggregated network functions

  • Experience with IoT networks, Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC), and private 5G deployments

  • Experience with network equipment from vendors such as Cisco, Ericsson, Nokia, or Huawei

  • Knowledge of IP networking protocols, such as TCP/IP, MPLS, BGP, or OSPF

  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as NFV, SDN, and cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or VMware

  • Knowledge of 5G technologies, architectures such as standalone (SA) and non-standalone modes, spectrum management, and protocols such as NG-RAN, gNodeB, or 5G NR and tools for network design, monitoring, and troubleshooting, including Ansible, NetConf, SolarWinds, or Wireshark

  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance

  • HS diploma or GED

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $77,600.00 to $176,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
