Job description

Meta is seeking an experienced technology transactions attorney to join our Business Partnerships Legal team. This role is pivotal in supporting high-priority, complex technology transactions that drive Meta's AI research, products, and services. You will be a key legal partner for the AI Partnerships & business development team, working on time-sensitive projects, including 0→1 initiatives and sophisticated licensing deals that go beyond routine data agreements.The specific areas of focus and responsibilities will evolve with company priorities, emerging legal issues, and the changing regulatory and competitive landscape.
Associate General Counsel, AI Partnerships Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic legal advice and day-to-day support to internal stakeholders, with a focus on the AI Partnerships & Business Development team, and high-impact product initiatives
  • Serve as legal subject matter specialist on artificial intelligence technology transactions, including advanced licensing, joint development, and strategic collaborations
  • Draft, negotiate, and close complex AI transactions, including bespoke licensing agreements and technology integrations
  • Lead and support 0→1 strategic partnerships, enabling new AI-driven products and features from inception to launch
  • Actively participate on cross-functional teams, collaborating with Product, Engineering, Privacy, Policy, and other Legal teams to address novel legal and regulatory issues in AI
  • Consult with subject matter experts (e.g., Product counsel, Privacy, Litigation, Compliance, etc.) as needed
  • Develop scalable processes for evaluating and executing sophisticated partnership opportunities

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution
  • Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar (or equivalent international qualification)
  • 10+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney, including at a law firm and/or in-house, with experience leading technology transactions and complex licensing agreements
  • Demonstrated business judgment and executive client counseling experience
  • Experience drafting and negotiating strategic, high-value, non-routine technology licensing agreements
  • Experience communicating complex legal and business concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including through written memos, contract summaries, and executive briefings

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience collaborating at all levels of the business across functions, including leadership and C-suite
  • Familiarity with global data privacy, intellectual property, and regulatory issues in the AI domain
  • Proven track record leading complex, first-of-kind transactions involving novel deal structures, intricate IP licensing frameworks, joint development arrangements, and high-value strategic partnerships
  • Prior in-house experience supporting business development teams, product partnerships, advanced product teams, or 0→1 product launches
  • Experience defining priorities and creating execution plans in evolving or undefined problem spaces, balancing competing deadlines and stakeholder needs
