1st Edge is seeking a skilled Artificial Intelligence Engineer to join our team. In this position, you will play a vital role in developing and maintaining software for the Missile Defense Agency. You will be instrumental in developing complex software applications, to include creating and maintaining graphical front-end interfaces, visualization toolsets, SQL Database interfaces, multi-user GUI interfaces, and rule base assessments. This position is on-site at 1st Edge LLC or customer location in Huntsville, AL.
Required qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience developing AI solutions to address complex problems
  • You must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Active DoD security clearance required to apply
  • Bachelor of Science/Engineering degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, mathematics, or related discipline
  • This an on-site position working full-time in a DoD facility on Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following tasks:
  • Provide expert engineering and/or scientific solutions for highly complex software applications that require Artificial Intelligence, including rule based, supervised and unsupervised learning techniques
  • Development of robust Optimization Engines and optimization algorithm implementation into large scale software packages
  • Designs, develops, and implements complex hardware, software, and database solutions using advanced techniques to meet system requirements and resolve problems
  • Develop applications that are required to resolve resource conflicts and optimize scheduling of resources in a very dynamic operating environment
  • Develop and deliver customized software products in support of multiple Agency stakeholders
  • Use agile methodology in a DevSecOps to support the rapid development and delivery of standardized, reliable, integrated and secure capabilities to the applicable stakeholder
  • Identify and integrate commercial off-the-shelf (COTS), Government off-the-shelf (GOTS), and open-source software to enhance the capabilities of agency software
  • Develop and deliver cloud solutions that include the ability to analyze requirements and develop cloud ready solutions to support software development and data collection/services capabilities
  • Evolve Missile Defense Agency software and development methodologies for legacy software tools to the use of DevSecOps, Agile, and Continuous Integration, Continuous Development, and Continuous Deployment software development approaches
  • Prepare presentations and reports to communicate complex technical concepts to a broad audience

Desired skills include:
  • Experience designing and developing business rule driven applications
  • Experience developing applications used for optimized scheduling of resources in a very dynamic operating environment
  • Experience and skills for the development of robust optimization engines and optimization algorithm implementation into large scale software packages
  • Knowledge of missile defense simulations, test scenarios, trajectory analysis, weapon systems, sensors and command and control systems
