Job description

The position focuses on data analytics, computational genomics, machine learning, and the application of metagenomics to dental diseases. The Fellow will work closely with the PI on collaborative, interdisciplinary projects and contribute to student training, while advancing Meharry's mission in biomedical research and workforce development. The position provides access to state-of-the-art computational infrastructure and offers opportunities for career development, publications, and grant participation..
Essential Functions (Principal Duties and Job Responsibilities):
  • Computational and statistical analysis of genomic and biomedical data (40%)
  • Development of AI/ML methods and bioinformatics pipelines (30%)
  • Manuscript preparation, presentations, and grant support (20%)
  • Mentoring and training students (10%)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Solid computing background or data experience, e.g., high-performance computing and machine learning.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, or related programming languages for data analysis and scientific computing.
  • A good understanding of genetics or molecular biology is a plus, but not required.
