Job description

Luxury Accessories Atelier in Chelsea NYC Seeks Full-Time Studio Assistant. $65,000-75,000 Plus Health Insurance.


At Eittem, we run a multi-disciplinary studio working in leather, wood and metal. We hand craft small, high-value items in low volumes including wood handbags, jewelry and sculptural objects. We do everything in-house from CAD design, CAM programming and CNC machining of wood and metal to jewelry quality metal polishing, wood finishing, leather molding, cutting and hand saddle stitching. Our current team of four studio craftspeople attended some of the best art schools in the country and worked at iconic American luxury brands.

We are looking to add a Studio Assistant to support the production team across all studio disciplines. Responsibilities will vary but will include hand sanding wood and clear coat finishes, application of paints and coatings, loading and running CNC machines, cutting wood and metal stock, assisting the leather wet molding process, shop maintenance and upkeep, and general support for the production process as needed.


Qualifications

·      Prior experience working in a studio / fabrication environment (furniture or cabinet shop, machine shop, school shop, prototyping environment).


·      A college degree in art, design, engineering or other discipline that involves working with your hands.

·      The patience and attention to detail to work on true luxury, hand-crafted products that are priced at $5,000-10,000.


Compensation, Benefits and Hours

·      Hourly starting pay range $32.50-$37.50 per hour ($65,000-75,000 per year) depending on work experience.

·      Full health, dental and vision insurance.

·      Studio hours are 9am to 5pm in person, 5 days per week.
