SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Art Therapist will provide comprehensive services with consideration to theoretical approaches and evidenced based practices to both pediatric patients and families in Penn State Children’s Hospital as well as adult patients and families in the Penn State Cancer Institute. These services will support goals of care and work to meet the emotional, physical, cognitive, social and cultural needs of patients and families. Previous experience working as an Art Therapist in a medical setting would be beneficial.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

• Master's degree from an AATA (American Art Therapy Association) or CAAHEP approved institution.

• Hold an ATR-P (Provisional Registered Art Therapist) credential through the Art Therapy Credentials Board with a supervision plan in place to meet requirements to apply for an ATR (Registered Art Therapist) credential and later sit for a board exam. If candidate does not hold an ATR-P, candidate must be eligible for ATR-P.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

• Previous Art Therapy experience in a healthcare setting and Registered and Board Certified Art Therapist preferred (ATR-BC).
