Job description
Overview
Every operating room has its unique rhythm - a blend of precision, trust, and effective communication. As a dedicated Physician Assistant with a surgical focus, you recognize the pivotal role you play: not just in the surgery itself, but also in the patient's entire journey, from pre-op to recovery.
We invite you to join us as a passionate, detail-focused PA to enhance our surgical services in a full-time capacity. Collaborating closely with talented surgeons and empathetic nurses, you will ensure that every patient's experience is seamless and centered on their well-being. Whether you are educating a patient before surgery or confidently passing instruments during a procedure, your daily contributions will embody a commitment to healing in a place that truly appreciates your skills and dedication.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including physical evaluations and extensive reviews of medical histories
- Assist in diagnosing surgical issues through careful interpretation of imaging studies and lab tests
- Work hand-in-hand with surgeons to create and implement tailored surgical treatment plans
- Provide critical intraoperative support, from prepping operating rooms and positioning patients to efficiently passing surgical instruments during operations
- Offer outstanding pre- and post-operative care, including managing medications, wound care, discharge planning, and patient education
- Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Strongly preferred: Completion of clinical rotations focused on surgical specialties
- Current and unrestricted PA-C certification
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- State licensure (or eligibility) as a Physician Assistant
- In-depth knowledge of surgical principles and aseptic techniques
- Ability to analyze diagnostic tests and engage in complex clinical decision-making
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Capacity to excel under pressure, especially in surgical situations
- A caring bedside manner with profound respect for patients' dignity and autonomy
- Competitive salary along with performance incentives
- Comprehensive health benefits package (medical, dental, vision)
- Generous paid time off and reimbursement for continuing medical education (CME)
- Supportive team environment with access to advanced equipment and technologies
- Opportunities for career growth in a dynamic and expanding healthcare organization
Your Impact in the Surgical Field
Being a Surgical Physician Assistant encompasses more than just technical ability; it's about arriving with calm assurance when challenges arise and letting patients know they are not alone in their fears. You'll play a direct role in the OR and act as a steady guide in the hallways, discussing diagnoses, helping families, and facilitating the next steps in the recovery process.
From performing minimally invasive laparoscopic procedures to assisting in intricate inpatient surgeries, your influence will be felt before, during, and long after these operations. Your insights will be valued during post-operative evaluations, recovery dialogues, and future planning. Your clinical expertise is trusted, and your voice counts in both significant and smaller decisions.
This is a team that embraces your contributions, recognizing that each successful operation is the result of a collective effort founded on trust, equality, and unwavering care.
