The Division of Academic & Student Affairs (DASA) is where students discover connections and community. The Crafts Center's is a place where creative skill and self-expression are fostered through the making and sharing of art and craft. With the intent of enhancing the quality of life, we reach out through academic collaboration, support for student life and through partnerships with other arts organizations. Our studios support the disciplines of woodworking, pottery, photography, fiber arts, lapidary, glass, jewelry, mixed media, and more.

The C:LAB Studio Technician reports to and is accountable to the Director of The Crafts Center

Responsibilities
  • Upholds the missions and goals of The Crafts Center
  • Responsible for initial prioritization, troubleshooting, resolution, escalation, and timely response to user requests and issues
  • Provides support for the C:LAB members and students by: answering technical questions, servicing and producing student works [ie. 3D printing, engraving, etc.], offering workflow and data management suggestions, promoting the C:LAB on campus, and supporting instructors
  • Maintains, deploys, and supervises all computers, equipment and software in the C:LAB
  • Provides technology support for classroom instruction
  • Assists with password resets, accounts, permissions, and general network troubleshooting in cooperation with University IT
  • Maintains documentation for network, user applications, safety and use, and software
  • Works with Director to identify trends, roll out proactive projects and other duties as assigned
  • Manages C:LAB inventory, supplies, and materials
  • Works with Director and instructors to develop maker projects and expand curriculum
  • Provides orientation to [new] instructors and students
  • Provides, gathers, manages all documentation relating to user manuals, best practices, and health and safety expectations
  • Assures and maintains best practices related to student health and safety by teaching/conducting proper technique and supervision
  • Creates a warm and welcoming learning environment for students
  • Communicates clearly and professionally in a timely manner
