2026 EWTN News Fall Intern

Location: Washington, DC


Seeking a Fall Intern for an exciting opportunity in our EWTN News division in Washington, DC to support our National Catholic Register team. The Fall Intern will research, write, and pitch stories that will be relevant t our Catholic audience. Join us as we bring the News to the world from a Catholic perspective!


WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Work closely with managers, staff, and editors to produce 1-3 stories per week.
  • Conduct interviews and follow up with sources in person, or via phone/video call/email, as needed.
  • Regularly participate in team editorial meetings; proactively pitch compelling, timely, and newsworthy stories, demonstrating knowledge of current events, Catholic news, and the agency’s audiences.
  • Assist in preparing articles for web publication by selecting appropriate art, headlines, and summaries, and adapting content for distribution on other platforms.
  • Assist editors in researching emerging trends in news media and adapting new tools to NCR's newsroom.
  • Collaborate with other managers and editors on the EWTN News-English team to cross-train writing for their platform.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior work experience in a professional office/newsroom environment.
  • Recent graduate or Junior/Senior student working toward an undergraduate degree in Communications, Journalism, or other related field.
  • Practicing Catholic with a strong understanding of the Catholic Faith and a genuine commitment to EWTN’s mission.
  • Proficient writing, editing, and organizational skills; knowledge and effective application of AP Style and journalistic integrity.
  • Possess a genuine interest in following current Catholic, local, national, and world news; understand current affairs content.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment while maintaining an appropriate level of composure and professionalism; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet all established deadlines.
  • Able to work a standard full-time schedule of 8:30 am – 5:30 pm (M-F) on site in DC for the full 14-week program; flexibility to work adjusted schedules and/or travel locally, as needed, for breaking news and special events.
