Role Summary
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Associate Art Director to lead the development of print, branded merchandise, apparel, and experiential creative across our recreational and medical markets. This role is responsible for translating our brand identities into tangible experiences that strengthen brand recognition and elevate the customer experience across retail environments, events, internal initiatives, and promotional campaigns. The ideal candidate has a strong background in print production, apparel graphics, promotional merchandise, and environmental design. They excel at working within established brand identity systems while finding creative ways to express each brand's unique personality across physical touchpoints. This role partners closely with Creative, Marketing, Brand, Retail Operations, Procurement, and external vendors to deliver high-quality branded materials from concept through production.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the creative development of branded merchandise, apparel, uniforms, promotional giveaways, retail collateral, and print marketing materials.
  • Design seasonal merchandise collections and branded apparel that reflect each brand's unique personality while maintaining consistency across the portfolio.
  • Develop creative concepts for retail environments, signage, point-of-sale displays, event graphics, environmental branding, and experiential marketing.
  • Execute print-ready artwork for brochures, flyers, direct mail, menus, packaging support, large-format graphics, and promotional collateral.
  • Design within established brand identity systems while bringing each brand's personality to life through thoughtful and engaging physical experiences.
  • Prepare production-ready files that meet vendor specifications for offset, digital, screen printing, embroidery, heat transfer, large-format printing, and specialty production methods.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure design intent, production quality, color accuracy, and material selection are maintained throughout production.
  • Develop creative mockups and presentation materials for internal reviews and stakeholder approvals.
  • Maintain merchandise, apparel, and print production standards, templates, and specifications.
  • Research emerging print techniques, apparel trends, materials, and promotional products to continually elevate the quality of branded experiences.
  • Support photoshoots and product styling for merchandise and branded materials when needed.
  • Contribute creative ideas that strengthen brand storytelling across physical customer touchpoints.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 12 years of professional design experience, including at least 2 years as an Art Director or Associate Art Director, and 5 years as a Senior Designer or Lead Designer with experience supporting print production, branded merchandise, apparel, and environmental graphics.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating print design, branded merchandise, apparel graphics, environmental design, promotional collateral, and production-ready artwork.
  • Proven experience developing creative within established brand identity systems while expressing each brand's unique personality across physical applications.
  • Strong understanding of print production processes, color management, paper stocks, specialty finishes, and vendor specifications.
  • Experience preparing production-ready files for offset printing, digital printing, screen printing, embroidery, heat transfer, vinyl applications, and large-format graphics.
  • Expert knowledge of typography, layout, composition, color, and production design.
  • Strong understanding of apparel decoration methods, garment construction considerations, and merchandise production workflows.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and vendor relationships.
  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, including Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Experience creating presentations and production mockups for stakeholder reviews.
  • Self-motivated with exceptional attention to detail, strong creative judgment, and a passion for building memorable brand experiences.

PREFERRED
  • Experience supporting consumer packaged goods (CPG), retail, lifestyle, or hospitality brands.
  • Experience designing trade show booths, event branding, environmental graphics, or retail fixtures.
  • Experience developing branded merchandise programs and seasonal apparel collections.
  • Knowledge of packaging production and structural packaging concepts.
  • Experience working with embroidery digitizing, screen printing, specialty finishes, and promotional product vendors.
  • Experience leveraging AI-powered creative tools to accelerate concept development, mockups, and production workflows.
