Job description

Appraisal Assistant Part-Time Position, May 2026

With more than twenty-one years of appraising antiques and estates in South Florida, our company offers experience in the practical and business aspects of the art world, including collecting, object identification, and evaluations. We are the perfect place to learn new skills in the world of antique appraisal, art valuation, and auction houses. Each day is different with new art, furniture, and rare objects to work with.

Our office seeks an individual(s) who learns fast, takes initiative, and is reliable with flexible hours (3-4 days per week). The ideal candidate will have typing, eBay, and MS Word skills. A background in Business, Legal, Museum, Art Gallery/Art History courses, or Auction House experience is not required, but a plus. English is a must. Proficiency in other languages is a plus. Weekday and possible weekend availability.

Pay is commensurate with experience. This position can also be applied as a paid internship for college credit.

Responsibilities and Duties:

· Assist with office/administrative duties as needed.

· Organize and edit object photos to be used in appraisal documents or for research purposes.

· Create, organize, and prepare documents according to a standard format/template in Microsoft Word.

· Assist with onsite appraisal dictation.

· Research object information, including any missing details on artist/manufacturer, origin, medium, provenance, history, and other necessary data.

· Navigate databases such as eBay, auction databases, and other websites to research and establish valuations.

· Use art marketplace and gallery data to analyze and establish the best comparable values.

Minimum Requirements:

· High school diploma or equivalent

· At least one year of office/administrative experience.

· Proficiency working with Windows Operating Systems.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and basic proficiency in Excel.

· Interpersonal skills, ability to interact with clients, gallery owners, and other professionals.

· Two professional references.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: Hourly rate is based on experience
