Job description

The Salvation Army Southern Territorial Headquarters, located in Atlanta, GA, has an opening for a Planned Giving Resources Manager.

Key responsibilities:
Responsible for managing and participating in the administration and project management of key planned giving resources in the Southern Territory to support the interpretation and administration of planned giving donor programs, including new business development, field documentation, and training.
  • Responsible for program management to support the Territorial and Division planned giving functions. Provides guidance and approval of all completed gift agreement reports and leadership reporting.
  • Ensure all duties and responsibilities are carried out in accordance with established procedures, policies, and regulations.
  • Supervises the Planned Giving Coordinator's work to ensure all required duties are completed in this area.

Planned Giving Administration Management:
  • Serves as a liaison for The Salvation Army Territorial Planned Giving section between donors, professional advisors, outside legal, marketing, and financial entities for completing matters associated with those entities.

Marketing Responsibilities:
  • Serves as primary liaison with external vendors and internal colleagues in a high-quality, high-volume, time-critical environment; implements efficient processes in partnership with the Territorial Director and vendors to help increase the quality and quantity of gift planning leads across the Divisions.

Planned Giving Training and Staff Support:
  • Develops and participates in training new staff on specific functions, including gift proposals, applications, processing, and policies.
  • Provides training and insight in collaboration with OOI to staff on all applicable Territorial programs in which The Salvation Army serves as fiduciary.
  • Reviews donor proposals, Planned Gift documentation, applications, and disclosure statements to ensure compliance with all current Salvation Army Policies, Federal and State regulations.
  • Assists with Annual CRD Conference for PG & MG staff and facilitates the awards process for leadership & recipients

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
  • Work requires travel and overnight stays throughout the Southern Territory and can include travel to locations outside of the Southern Territory.

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Legal, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field, and Five (5) years of progressively responsible nonprofit experience, with experience in Planned Giving preferred, and one (1) year of supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of project management skills is necessary to track the activities of multiple accounts and ensure compliance with approved guidelines and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of and preferably experience with Planned Gift processing software to develop proposals and support legal and tax requirements to fulfill the business development deliverables and administrative requirements of the Planned Giving program.

This position requires an active Christian faith in harmony with Salvation Army doctrine and practice.
