Job description

Senior Specialist, Purchasing

Objective: This position is responsible for working cross functionally to plan supply to meet demand, assure timely purchase orders, shipments and deliveries and maintain inventory data. The Senior Purchasing Specialist collaborates closely with various departments to forecast demand, control inventory levels, and achieve cost savings while ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analyze buy plan, forecast and inventory data for purchase order execution
  • Issue purchase orders and track order status to ensure on-time delivery
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment to avoid stockouts or overstock
  • Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, order acknowledgements, pricing, minimum order quantities and lead times
  • Resolve issues related to shipments, invoices, quantity and quality discrepancies
  • Review on-hand inventory levels on a monthly basis to ensure adequate stock levels are maintained to meet demand
  • Work with Material Master Data as it pertains to active/discontinued product, forecast flags, blocking items from sales, ABC coding, MOQs, delivery lead times and other controls to maintain date integrity
  • Maintain Master Inventory tracker and work with Sales planning on forecast issues, alerts, shortfalls.
  • Partner with Customer Service and Sales to assess backorder status, prioritize purchase orders, and proactively resolve scheduling conflicts and supply disruptions
  • Drive cross-functional alignment to ensure long-term supply plans are achievable and consistently meet customer requirements and service expectations
  • Collaborate with Operations to evaluate demand variability, communicate capacity constraints, and address material availability or shortages to mitigate supply risks
  • Lead resolution of invoice discrepancies by working closely with Accounting to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely reconciliation


Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of experience working in purchasing, procurement or supply chain using computer based MRP systems (SAP)
  • Excellent MRP (SAP Required), scheduling, capacity management and organizational skills
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Excel and intermediate level experience with other MS Office applications
  • Detail orientated with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work and communicate in a team environment
