Registered Respiratory Therapist

The posted compensation range of $26.70 - $39.71 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will join an established team of RTs who share your passion for delivering highly specialized cardiopulmonary care to patients experiencing breathing issues. You'll be instrumental in providing a range of treatments from breathing techniques and nebulizer treatments to ventilator management, oxygen therapies, and external ventilation support. Every day you will apply your keen assessment skills and critical thinking to manage diverse patient needs, develop and execute effective care plans, and ensure calm, focused intervention in both routine and emergent situations. To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate a strong sense of urgency, unwavering calm under pressure, and the ability to anticipate outcomes. Your dedication to patient well-being and exceptional problem-solving abilities will drive success in this vital role.

  • Clinical responsibilities include reviewing and evaluating existing data in patient's record. Collects any additional pertinent clinical information through physical examination and bedside parameters.
  • Performs and evaluates peak flows/spirometry before and after bronchodilators according to policy and orders.
  • Completes thorough assessment of patients.
  • Communicates all critical information to physicians, nurses, and others on an inter-disciplinary patient care team.
  • Proactive in initiating ventilator discontinuation. Follows all policies on documentation, ET tube care, and other ventilator bundle guidelines.

Job requirements include:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of respiratory.
  • Must have an unencumbered license to practice in the state of Arkansas.
  • Registry required.
  • BLS and ACLS from American Heart Association is required.
  • Successful completion of the NBRC examination for registered respiratory therapist.
