Integrated teams provide a full range of orthopaedic care, including joint replacement and revision, sports medicine, shoulder, elbow and hand surgery, foot and ankle reconstruction, trauma, and orthopaedic spine procedures.
HOPCo (Healthcare Outcomes Performance Company) is the corporate parent of Arizona-based entities, The CORE Institute, Northern Arizona Orthopaedics, The CORE Institute Specialty Hospital, and Michigan-based The CORE Institute. HOPCo is a vertically integrated musculoskeletal outcomes management company. HOPCo manages physician practices, hospital service lines, population health and value-based care programs, and musculoskeletal delivery networks.
Please see below for the functions and requirements to be a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with Northern Arizona Orthopaedics (NAO).
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND POSITION:
This APP will work in the clinic covering general orthopaedic needs and is responsible for providing medical care as delegated by the surgeon team. This is a full-time position with four days of clinic per week. There is eligibility for a monthly RVU bonus dependent on productivity. There are no call responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Assesses patient health status including state of wellness, compliance with the care plan and determines appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  2. Provides acute and chronic patient care including taking histories, doing physicals, monitoring therapies, giving injections and medications, suturing wounds.
  3. Triages patient calls and evaluates patient problems.
  4. Responds to emergencies including the use of CPR.
  5. Documents patient information and care provided in the patient record and maintains patient statistics.
  6. Educates patients and families as appropriate. It provides continuity of care.
  7. Consults with other staff, as necessary.
  8. Maintains patient confidentiality.

EDUCATION:
CPR and ACLS Certification
Physician Assistant:
BA/BS, MS preferred. Graduate of AMA accredited physician assistant program. Active or scheduled NCCPA Certification.
Nurse Practitioner:
Current Arizona license for Registered Nurse. Current Arizona license for Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. Certification by national certifying body as approved by the Arizona APRN Board.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience preferred as an NP/PA in Orthopaedics. Willing to consider a new graduate with prior Orthopaedic experience.
KNOWLEDGE:
  1. Knowledge of acute and chronic protocols, administration of medications, delivering physical care following the treatment plan.
  2. Knowledge of how to assess patient health and measure/record physiologic and growth indices.
  3. Knowledge of health promotion principles and techniques and patient learning measurements.

SKILLS:
  1. Skill in gathering and analyzing physiological, socioeconomic, and emotional patient data.
  2. Skill in accurately evaluating patient problems in person or via phone and providing appropriate advice, intervention, or referral.
  3. Skill in evaluating and revising the care plan based on patient changes.

ABILITIES:
  1. Ability to make responsible decisions within the scope of a dependent medical practitioner.
  2. Ability to develop health education programs and materials.
  3. Ability to work collaboratively with all members of the health care team.
