How much do arinc jobs pay per year?
What are ARINC jobs?
What is the difference between Arinc vs Avionics Technician?
| Aspect | Arinc | Avionics Technician |
|---|---|---|
| Certifications | Typically requires FAA certifications, such as FCC or ARINC-specific training | Requires FAA certifications like FCC, FCC Radio License, and avionics-specific certifications |
| Work Environment | Primarily in aerospace and communication systems, often in labs or on aircraft | Primarily in maintenance, repair, and installation of aircraft electronic systems |
| Industry Usage | Used in aerospace, defense, and communication industries | Commonly employed in aviation maintenance and repair facilities |
While both Arinc and Avionics Technicians work with aircraft communication and electronic systems, Arinc specialists focus more on communication systems infrastructure and standards, whereas Avionics Technicians handle the installation, maintenance, and repair of aircraft electronic systems. Both roles require similar certifications and often overlap in the aerospace industry.
What are some common challenges faced by ARINC engineers when integrating new avionic systems into existing aircraft infrastructure?
What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an ARINC (Aeronautical Radio, Incorporated) Systems Specialist, and why are they important?

Collins Aerospace is a leader in technologically advanced, intelligent solutions that help redefine the aerospace and defense industry. With a comprehensive portfolio and deep technical expertise, we help customers meet the demands of the global market. Join us and help shape the future of aerospace and defense.
Come join the Boeing Platforms department engineering team as a Principal Systems Engineer with focus on ARP-4754 Systems Certification. Our team of engineers design state-of-the-art, industry-leading flight displays for the flight decks of large commercial airplanes, such as the Boeing 787.
As a Certification Focal in our department, you will be responsible for the coordination of program-level certification activities, with primary emphasis on systems certification, overseeing the development of program plans to support certification objectives, coordination of DA reviews, readiness reviews, and directly supporting FAA/EASA Certification Compliance Finders (ODA / TCRs / DERs / E-UMs).
What You Will Do:
- Be the primary interface with external customers and Certification Compliance Finders in support of systems certification activities, such as certification documents and audit certification support.
- Coordinate certification activities, including project management for bidding, estimating, tracking and reporting on technical scope, cost and schedule. Proactively identify and manage risk associated with the certification aspects of displays programs.
- Be the primary point of contact for the project team for questions against process, plans, standards, and policies. Has advanced knowledge of systems certification.
- Perform technical coordination with various teams, including, but not limited to, customers (internal and external), systems engineers, hardware engineers, software engineers, partner suppliers, safety engineers, and program managers. Understands dependencies between domains and related impacts.
- Demonstrate good judgement by quickly assessing the cost, benefit and risks of decisions, and apply critical thinking and sound logic to make well-informed decisions. Problems encountered are difficult and often complex and undefined and impact multiple domains. Has broad ownership of tasks, of which may have significant impact on the project.
- Present information effectively to external and internal leaders of varying levels and anticipate possible questions.
- Mentor other team members and help them develop in areas such as certification, systems engineering, software engineering and process compliance. Champion creating training materials and opportunities for knowledge transfer.
- May assist with other systems engineering team activities when certification work is reduced at certain periods during the development life cycle; systems engineering team activities may include requirements capture, system design and modeling, integrating with hardware and software components, system validation and verification.
- Up to 25% travel as needed.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.
- 3+ years of experience working with E-UMs/TCRs for DA audits related to ARP-4754.
- 5+ years of experience with ARP-4754 and/or DO-178 commercial certification process.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Familiarity with the application of the certification objectives defined in ARP-4754 and ARP-4761 for Air Transport category airplanes.
- Experience with the Seattle ACO and E-UMs from major OEMs is highly desired.
- Experience developing avionics systems using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
