Who are we hiring?
The Part-Time Event Security Officer will ensure the protection and safety of guests, employees, facilities, and property of Madison Square Garden. This role is responsible for supporting the Security Department in the enforcement of all Company policies while promoting a positive guest experience and maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment. Serving on an event-driven basis, Event Security Officers must have the availability to work nights, holidays, and weekends, which includes Thursday through Sunday, as required by the event schedule. Weekend availability (Thursday-Sunday) is a mandatory requirement of this position and is essential to be considered for this role. As a member of the Security team, this role provides the opportunity to develop skills in a dynamic, fast-paced live entertainment environment.
What will you do?
  • Must be available to work weekends, which encompasses Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This is a firm requirement of the role and candidates who are unable to meet this availability should not apply.
  • Conduct bag checks and screen all guests and employees using handheld detection devices and visual inspection to ensure overall safety.
  • Control access to the Arena by screening visitors, vehicles, and equipment at all entry points.
  • Verify credentials and employee identification of all persons entering the venues.
  • Assist with guest ingress and egress, including crowd management and directional guidance.
  • Maintain security operations in assigned area or post, remaining vigilant and visible at all times.
  • Secure TV trucks, equipment, and personnel entering and exiting the Arena's loading docks in support of arena events.
  • Observes and reports on security threats along the building's perimeter such as: crime, scalper activity, loitering, and surveillance activity (of performers, players, arena activity)
  • Screens bulk items entering the loading dock like mail, team equipment, and deliveries.
  • Escorts patrons, clients, employees, artists, performers and players into and out of Madison Square Garden.
  • Learns and executes arena security response, access control, and evacuation plans.
  • This role will cover various indoor and outdoor posts as assigned.
  • Prepare and submit written incident reports, documenting security-related occurrences accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Provide excellent guest service by assisting with directions, answering questions, and addressing concerns in a professional manner.
  • Respond to all security assistance calls during events/operating hours.
  • Meet general physical requirements such as lifting 25 lbs., standing for long periods, walking long distances, bending and maintaining constant motion.

What do you need to succeed?
  • Security experience with an understanding of security procedures and guest relations
  • Active member of Local 177
  • Familiarity with radios, Closed Circuit Television Systems and other security devices.
  • Must have the ability and interpersonal skills to effectively assist guests, clients and employees.
  • Must have a valid NYS Security License and Fire Guard License.
  • Will be a team player and self-motivator
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Must be willing to accept security assignments at other MSG locations as needed
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, have split days off, work weekends and holidays in a 24 X 7 environment
