Job Summary


Summary:  The Host is responsible for welcoming patrons and seating them. In this position, the Host should have an understanding of the content of the menu and ensures that food is delivered in a timely fashion. The Host should understand and follow food safety and sanitation guidelines and help with the execution of area setup and breakdown.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Promptly and warmly greets and directs guests to their tables based on availability or desired seating arrangements.
  • Helps create an overall enjoyable dining experience and promotes a safe, clean and neat environment for guests and other associates.
  • Exhibits exceptional communications skills. Gets along well with others, demonstrates flexibility and patience; possesses an interest in people.
  • Supervises the activities of food-service associates in the dining room to ensure proper customer service, food handling and sanitation procedures are followed.
  • Supervises the closing of the assigned dining room; ensures side work and station setup is properly completed.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of emergency safety procedures and helps evacuate guests to safety in the event of fire or other emergency.
  • Assists with service, including occasional bussing and food service, while maintaining safe food handling and sanitation standards.
  • May be asked to operate equipment, including but not limited to fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea/soda machines, soup wells and coffee machines.
  • Works with staff of other departments to perform job duties and during special events or functions.
  • Assign patrons to tables suitable for their needs.
  • Maintain contact with kitchen staff, management, serving staff and customers to ensure that dining details are handled properly and customers’ concerns are addressed.
  • Receive and manage reservations ahead of service each event.
  • Ensures all food and beverage is properly delivered and/or stored.
  • Knowledgeable on all menu offerings.
  • Follows set up and break down processes efficiently.
  • Understands all event paperwork and reports.
  • Establishes rapport with guests and understands suggestive and upselling techniques.
  • Adheres to location appearance guidelines.
  • Acts with a sense of urgency and professionalism.
  • Employs good safety and sanitation practices.
  • Follows responsible alcohol service policies.
  • Understands the importance of maintaining equipment and executes accordingly.
  • Thoroughly completes all event set-up and breakdown responsibilities within timelines provided.
  • Performs post event product inventory and restocks as needed.
  • Helps fellow employees whenever necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Duties: 

  • Be punctual, reliable and available for scheduled shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays on event basis.
  • Adapt quickly to fast-paced, high-volume environments.
  • Demonstrate physical stamina and agility required to be mobile for long periods throughout the day and stand for duration of entire shift.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required work cards including SNHD Health Card, ServSafe Alcohol Card, Non-Gaming Card.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English in written and oral form.
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and bend.
  • Lift, push pull up to 50 lbs.
