Job description

Production Operator, Cobourg, ON 

We are currently seeking talent for a Production Operator job for our Cobourg, ON location. Reporting to the Production Lead, this position is a full-time role that will start in an entry position in our packaging department, but has multiple opportunities to cross-train in other production roles and rapidly advance in pay with our skill-based pay structure. Operators are responsible for performing tasks and duties pertaining to the manufacturing and processing of impregnated surfaces at the site.  This role is required to know and perform all assigned production department functions in compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) regulations and Arclin’s policies and procedures to contribute positively to an efficient and safely run operation.

This position’s pay range is $22.28 - $34.48 per hour. 12-hour shifts (days/nights continental rotation). An automatic raise to $23.17 is applied after the 3-month probation period. 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Inspect and package final product, according to established procedures, standards and HSE regulations
  • Verify basic product label information, such as dimensions, sheet counts, etc.
  • Assist production line operators with pallet changes, clean ups and start ups
  • Maintain general housekeeping of production areas
  • Assist with larger production area cleaning tasks
  • Follow all site rules and procedures as they apply to quality, health, safety, and the environment
  • Report all safety concerns immediately to Production Lead, HSE Lead or site Leadership team
  • Operate a forklift safely to move large pallets (empty & with product) throughout facility
  • Operate a clamp truck safely to move large paper rolls from warehouse to production area
  • Operate the production lines, using centerline process information to maintain each product specification
  • Complete and report quality testing accurately
  • Visually monitors processes within their area of accountability and immediately informs the Production Lead of any deviations or abnormalities
  • Work in close coordination with the Production Lead to accomplish the tasks needed to safely and efficiently meet production schedules across all processes
  • Communicate and confer with the Production Lead, as well as with Technical, Supervisory, and Support Personnel to resolve process conditions affecting safety, efficiency, and product quality
  • Respond to process alarms and interlocks promptly and coordinates timely confirmation and corrective actions to resolve conditions generating the alarms and interlocks
  • Perform troubleshooting in the event of process deviations

In this position you will have the opportunity to:

  • Participate in the Joint Health and Safety Committee to facilitate safety improvements
  • Collaborate with management to meet the production and shipping schedule
  • Help to meet and exceed production, waste, and quality goals
  • Become Forklift Certified

 To be successful, you will need:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Good attention to detail required
  • Be able to accurately read and use a tape measure
  • Must be ok with rotating 12-hour shifts (Days/Nights continental rotation)
  • Must be ok with following strict Health and Safety Guidelines and wear required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend throughout a 12-hour shift
  • Able to lift a maximum of 50 lbs.
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Basic math skills required, including the basic use of a calculator
  • Forklift experience a plus; would need to become recertified on site
  • Analytical and mechanical mindset an asset
  • Previous manufacturing experience a plus
