We are pleased to announce that px Group have taken over operations of the Shetland Gas Plant (SGP) and associated West of Shetland infrastructure, marking the start of a strong new partnership with Serica Energy plc.
The Shetland Gas Plant is a key part of the Greater Laggan Area energy system, processing gas from offshore fields West of Shetland and transporting it via the SIRGE and FUKA pipelines to the St Fergus Gas Terminal, where it enters the UK's National Grid.
The Opportunity

We are now recruiting for a Senior Production Operator. This role is a rotational position.
The primary function of the role is to supervise and direct the Area Operators in their day to day activities and as directed by the Production Supervisor.  Additionally, the Senior Plant Operator will assist in the preparation of shut down plans, complex isolations and leak test packs, and take a lead role in the mentoring and coaching of Operator trainees.
You'll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence.
  • Monitor and operate process and utility equipment and ensure optimised operation implementing adjustments under direction of the Production Supervisor and Control Room Operators.
  • Ensure operator logbooks, files and all boards are being maintained with accurate information. 
  • Oversee the execution of line-walks of plant as per procedure for restart operations and as directed by the Production Supervisor. 
  • Ensure that operations planned maintenance routines are carried out within compliance, and that accurate records are being recorded in SAP 
  • Ensure notifications are raised in SAP for defective equipment as appropriate ensuring good quality accurate fault descriptions. 
  • Be fully familiar with and competent to operate essential safety equipment including fire pumps, fire protection deluge/sprinkler systems, ESD valves, emergency power generation etc 
  • Ensure toolbox talks are attended by the area operator responsible and where necessary attend toolbox talks in person. Carry out site checks for core crew and contractors' personnel working on-site, ensuring all safety procedures are observed.
  • Be aware of procedure for monitoring/reporting minor emissions, weeps and seeps and temporary/end of field life repairs.
  • Take necessary environmental records and measurements. 
  • Be fully aware of the Emergency response plan and cover the Emergency Response Duties as allocated by the Terminal Manager

  • L3 qualification in fluid/gas mechanics, oil & gas operations, or other relevant subject, or equivalent 
  • Good knowledge of fluid and gas mechanics and hydraulic, pneumatic and electronic. 
  • Good knowledge of platform/site systems, processes and operating parameters. 
  • Have good communication skills and the ability to interact with personnel at all levels and direct. 
  • Strong PTW, isolations and inhibit knowledge.
