Job description

Job Overview:

Weatherford have a great opportunity for an experienced Area Operations Manager to join the Wireline Product Line in Benbrook, Texas USA.

The Area Operations Manager - Wireline is responsible for leading all operational, commercial, and financial aspects of the Wireline Product Line within the assigned geographical area. This role provides strategic leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable service delivery while maintaining the highest standards of operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and regulatory compliance.

The Area Operations Manager will oversee multiple operational facilities, field crews, technical personnel, and support functions, ensuring resources are optimized to meet customer requirements while delivering sustainable financial performance. Working closely with Sales, Engineering, Supply Chain, Maintenance, HSE, and Finance, the role is accountable for achieving operational KPIs, developing talent, and supporting business growth across the region.

Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership

  • Lead all Wireline operations within the assigned area to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient service delivery.

  • Ensure operational readiness of personnel, equipment, and facilities to meet customer demand.

  • Develop and execute operational plans aligned with regional and corporate business objectives.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.

  • Monitor operational performance through established KPIs and implement corrective actions where required.

  • Optimize asset utilization while minimizing non-productive time and operational costs.

  • Ensure effective planning and scheduling of equipment, personnel, and logistics.

Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ)

  • Champion Weatherford's safety culture by promoting a proactive approach to HSE leadership.

  • Ensure full compliance with company HSE policies, customer requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Lead incident investigations and corrective action implementation.

  • Promote risk assessments, hazard identification, and continuous safety improvement initiatives.

  • Maintain compliance with Quality Management Systems and operational procedures.

Financial Management

  • Own the area's Profit & Loss (P&L) performance.

  • Develop and manage annual operating budgets.

  • Monitor revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, and asset utilization.

  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability through operational efficiencies and cost optimization.

  • Support pricing strategies and commercial initiatives in partnership with Sales leadership.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, ensuring exceptional service delivery.

  • Participate in customer meetings, operational reviews, and business development activities.

  • Address operational issues promptly while maintaining high customer satisfaction.

  • Support contract execution and service quality improvement initiatives.

People Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop operations managers, supervisors, engineers, and field personnel.

  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.

  • Conduct performance evaluations, succession planning, and talent development activities.

  • Ensure workforce competency through structured training and development programs.

  • Promote employee engagement and retention.

Asset & Equipment Management

  • Ensure fleet reliability through effective maintenance planning and lifecycle management.

  • Optimize inventory levels and equipment availability.

  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.

  • Drive asset integrity and preventive maintenance programs.

Commercial Support

  • Collaborate with Business Development and Sales teams to identify growth opportunities.

  • Support tender preparation, customer presentations, and contract negotiations.

  • Ensure operational capabilities align with customer expectations and market requirements.

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure adherence to company policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain accurate operational reporting and documentation.

  • Support internal and external audits.

  • Drive compliance with financial controls and operational governance processes.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Management, or a related discipline preferred.

  • Equivalent industry experience will also be considered.

  • Minimum 10-15 years of progressive experience within the oilfield services industry.

  • Minimum 5 years in a leadership role managing Wireline operations.

  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-site operations and large field organizations.

  • Strong understanding of cased-hole and open-hole wireline services.

  • Experience managing P&L responsibilities and operational budgets.

  • Proven customer-facing leadership experience with major E&P operators.

  • Experience in Wireline intervention operations.

  • Experience in Slickline and electric line operations.

  • Continuous improvement mindset.

  • Approximately 30% travel within the assigned operating area, with occasional domestic and international travel as business needs require.
