Operations Manager

Substance Salon – Rutherford, NJ

Full-Time | 38–40 Hours per Week

Position Summary

Substance Salon is seeking a dependable, organized, and customer-focused Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of our salon. This position plays a key role in creating an exceptional client experience while supporting the salon team and ensuring day-to-day operations run smoothly.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, enjoys working with people, is comfortable using technology, and can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Client Experience

- Welcome clients in a friendly and professional manner.

- Answer phone calls, schedule appointments, and respond to client inquiries.

- Confirm appointments and manage cancellations or schedule changes.

- Resolve client concerns professionally.

- Ensure every client receives outstanding service from check-in through checkout.

Daily Operations

- Oversee front desk operations and daily workflow.

- Manage appointment scheduling to maximize stylist productivity.

- Maintain accurate client records using salon software.

- Process payments and balance daily transactions.

- Open and close the salon as scheduled.

- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area.

Team Support

- Support stylists and staff throughout the day.

- Help coordinate schedules and daily operations.

- Communicate operational needs with ownership.

- Foster a positive and professional work environment.

Sales & Business Support

- Encourage appointment rebooking and retail product sales.

- Support monthly service and retail goals.

- Help increase client retention through excellent customer service.

Inventory & Marketing

- Monitor retail and professional product inventory.

- Assist with product ordering as needed.

- Support salon promotions, social media, and community marketing efforts.

Qualifications

- Previous management or leadership experience in a salon, spa, hospitality, retail, medical office, or customer service environment preferred.

- Excellent communication and customer service skills.

- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.

- Comfortable using scheduling software, POS systems, email, and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.

Compensation
