Job description

SALARY $18.26 per hour

Description

Reports to the food services supervisor or designee. Assists the cooks and cook helpers in preparation of student meals in compliance with government and management directives.                                                               

Essential Functions:

  1. Perform clean‑up and sanitation duties in the food preparation, storage and dish room areas to ensure adequate health standards at all times.
  2. Provide adequate supply of food and transfer merchandise ingredients to cooking area as instructed by the cook or designee.
  3. Food Preparation: Assist in washing, peeling, chopping, and preparing ingredients. Meal Service: Portion out food, set up serving lines, and serve meals to fellow students according to proper nutritional guidelines. Sanitation & Cleaning: Wash dishes, sanitize eating areas, clean kitchen counters, sweep or mop floors and cleaning dining room. Stocking & Storage: Help store deliveries properly, maintain refrigerators and freezers, and rotate stock to ensure freshness and safety. 


Must be reliable and willing to work evenings and some weekends. 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Must be a completer and ready for work-based learning.  
  • Must be at least 18 years of age. 
  • Must be a current Job Corps Center Student currently enrolled in the Culinary Arts program, preferred.
  • Qualified students will, at a minimum, have their student card.
