  • Create, review, and approve detailed shop drawings, production drawings, cut lists, bills of materials, and fabrication documentation.
  • Translate architectural plans, design concepts, specifications, and field measurements into accurate manufacturing drawings.
  • Engineer custom cabinetry, closets, architectural casework, countertops, wall paneling, decorative woodwork, and other specialty millwork.
  • Evaluate projects for manufacturability, constructability, material selection, hardware integration, joinery, and installation requirements.
  • Collaborate with project managers, designers, estimators, CNC programmers, production personnel, and installation teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify and resolve design conflicts, dimensional discrepancies, and production challenges before fabrication begins.
  • Support CNC programming, nesting, material optimization, and production planning.
  • Ensure engineering documentation meets company quality standards and manufacturing requirements.
  • Mentor CAD designers, drafters, and junior engineering staff while promoting engineering best practices.
  • Assist with quality control during engineering, fabrication, and installation phases.
  • Develop and refine engineering standards, drafting procedures, workflows, and technical documentation.
  • Recommend practical engineering solutions for complex custom millwork applications.

Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in architectural millwork engineering, millwork drafting, or technical design.
  • Strong background in high-end residential construction, luxury custom homes, or premium architectural interiors.
  • Extensive experience engineering custom cabinetry, architectural casework, closets, countertops, specialty woodwork, and custom millwork.
  • Advanced experience producing production-ready shop drawings and fabrication documentation.
  • Thorough understanding of CNC manufacturing, woodworking equipment, fabrication methods, and production workflows.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microvellum, Cabinet Vision, AlphaCAM, Rhino, KCD, or comparable millwork engineering software.

  • Strong knowledge of millwork materials, hardware, joinery, woodworking techniques, fabrication, and installation methods.
  • Experience collaborating directly with manufacturing teams to solve technical and production challenges.
  • Previous leadership or mentoring experience with designers, drafters, or engineers is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.
