Forge & Build is hiring a Part-Time Design Associate at our facility in West Salem, WI, and we're looking for someone who's ready to grow with us, bring energy and drive to their work, and help us build the future of construction. The Design Associate creates, plans, and oversees projects for custom cabinetry, specializing in kitchens, bathrooms, and offices. This role combines creativity, design expertise, and consultative selling to guide homeowners and contractors through every stage of kitchen, bath, and outdoor living sales from concept to completion. This position requires both an eye for aesthetics and the confidence to close high-value sales. The Associate collaborates closely with clients and the sales team to drive company sales by offering good, better, and best options to ensure a great customer experience.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and offers overtime pay after working 40 hours. (Includes working weekends)
Primary Responsibilities
  • Meet with clients and prospective clients to understand their design goals, needs, budget, style preferences, and space requirements.
  • Create functional and aesthetically pleasing cabinet layouts, plans, and detailed drawings using design software.
  • Recommend and select appropriate materials, hardware, and finishes for the cabinetry, balancing client needs and company standards.
  • Work with architects, builders, contractors, customers, and manufacturers to ensure accurate design implementation and project coordination.
  • Manage projects from conception to completion, including drafting, material selection, client approval, and coordination with production.
  • Develop and present comprehensive design concepts, including drawings, renderings, material selections and pricing with a goal to secure the sale.
  • Manage each project through the sales cycle from lead to design to pricing to sale and delivery ensuring client satisfaction and profitability is met.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to ensure seamless execution of design intent is met.
  • Generate sales through lead generation, referrals and walk-in opportunities.
  • Work with sales management on sales planning and execution.
  • Maintain showroom displays for client presentation.
  • Follow through once the job is sold to remain the central point of contact until the job is completed.
  • Maintain updated knowledge of current trends, products and vendors in the industry.
  • Utilize company driven software such as Chief Architect and or 20/20 design to develop accurate layouts, presentations or equivalent projects.

  • Knowledge of mathematics, engineering, and design principles to ensure accurate and functional cabinet designs.
  • Meticulous attention to detail for accurate measurements, precise drawings, and high-quality finishes.
  • Ability to learn multiple cabinet lines.

Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma/GED.

  • Ability to read or understand architectural plans.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods at a desk.
  • Must be able to move, stand, stoop, and bend freely.
