Job description

You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECH (NAVAL ARCHITECTURE) in the ENGINEERING DEPT, C200 of SOUTHWEST REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CENTER.Qualifications:Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Performing technical engineering advisory services in the field of Naval Architecture, including assessment and recommendations for project repairs, modifications, and alterations during new ship construction, ship overhaul or repair projects.
Examples of qualifying experience:
  • Ability to investigate and resolve complex engineering problems in the areas of paint coatings and structures that arise during production work on Navy ships and crafts.
  • Provide solutions supported by NAVSEA drawings, Design Memorandums, Navy Messages, NAVSEA technical manuals, NAVSEA Deviations and Waivers, and Command correspondence.
  • Provide guidance to upper management, Type Commander, NAVSEA, other Navy activities, and contractors on corrosion control, hull preservation, and cathodic protection.
