Job description

Senior Healthcare Architect
Location: Grand Rapids or Farmington Hills, MI
Employment Type: Full-Time
For over 70 years Fishbeck has been building. As a 100% employee-owned firm, every team member has a stake in what we build together—our work, our reputation, and our future. Now we need to add a Senior Healthcare Architect to help us keep building.
Working with our Architectural team, you will assist with project work plans and schedules and collaborate with the design team throughout the programming and conceptual phases. You will also work alongside multidisciplinary professionals on each project, working towards completion.
What You’ll Do
  • Assist the Project Manager in developing project work plans and schedules.
  • Collaborate with the design team during programming and conceptual phases.
  • Lead the technical team in preparing design development and construction documents for healthcare facilities.
  • Coordinate with in-house engineers and outside consultants.
  • Develop architectural technical specifications with a focus on healthcare systems, materials, and infection control standards.
  • Lead construction administration effort including observation, RFI and submittal review.
  • Serve as project manager on small to medium projects if required.
  • Assist with departmental duties such as updating technical standards and mentoring of junior architectural staff.
What We’re Looking For
  • Master of Architecture or Bachelor of Architecture Degree from an accredited university.
  • 10-15 years of experience, preferred.
  • Licensure preferred.
  • Experienced in developing projects using Revit.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and BSD Spec Link is a bonus.
  • Must possess good written and verbal communication skills, and strong organizational skills.
  • Very detail-oriented, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and flexible.
  • Ability to work well with others under demanding deadline situations.
  • Note: Candidates with experience coordinating with healthcare consultants (e.g., medical equipment planners, infection control specialists) will be prioritized.
