The Opportunity:

As an Enterprise Architect II, you will take a more advanced role in shaping and evolving our enterprise architecture. You will lead efforts to design and implement comprehensive architecture strategies that align with our business goals and support our complex finance and payments systems. This position requires someone who is skilled in managing multiple priorities, possesses strong analytical problem-solving skills, and hands-on experience with ArchiMate relationships and dependencies around business, application, and technology architectures and artifacts within the context of TOGAF.

Day in the Life:

  • Architecture Strategy: Develop and refine enterprise architecture framework for Velera Systems, around business, application, and technology architectures. Able to create TOGAF Artifacts: Matrixes, Diagrams, Building Blocks, and Principles w/ ArchiMate. Willingness to learn and create business architecture: business capability models, gap analysis's, risk impact assessments, value stream maps, heat maps, and decision matrixes. Business capability score metrics, total cost of ownership metric, and return on investment metric formula understanding is needed, along with roadmap and business case creation.
  • Leadership: Mentor and guide junior architects and technical teams, fostering collaboration and best practices in architecture design and implementation. Providing oversight, consulting, and mentoring on architecture, design, and integration of software across complex system integration with data, security, performance, and scalability in mind is required.
  • Project Oversight: Oversee major architectural projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and timely delivery of solutions. Reviewing and creating solutions using Architecture Review Board (ARB), Permit to Build (PTB), and Permit to Operation (PTO) artifacts, along with capacity forecasting planning and overseeing /own a technology-based end of support and rationalization program is required.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with senior stakeholders and business leaders to understand their needs and ensure that architecture solutions effectively address business challenges. Working with Velera's Business Liaison team to establish leadership roadmaps and business cases is required.
  • Innovation: Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending innovative solutions to enhance system performance and competitive advantage. Creating solutions and hands-on Proof of Concept creation (POCs) is required.
  • Standards and Governance: Establish and enforce architectural standards and governance frameworks to ensure consistency, security, and compliance with industry regulations. Reviewing product solution artifacts is required.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify potential risks related to architecture and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring system reliability and resilience. Working with Velera's security risk and compliance team needed to push enterprise level governance is required.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Create and maintain detailed architectural documentation, including models, diagrams, and specifications, and provide regular reports on architectural progress and impact.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, related field, or respective industry experience is required. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman) are advantageous.
  • 5-7 years of experience in enterprise architecture or systems design, with significant exposure to finance and payments systems.
  • Technical Skills: Deep understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks, integration techniques, and technology stacks relevant to finance and payments. Ability to deliver hands-on TOGAF artifacts: matrixes, diagrams, analysis, roadmaps, building blocks, and business capacity maps. Hands-on experience with an architectural modeling tool like EA Sparx or ServiceNow APM is recommended.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on strategic and tactical thinking.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to a range of audiences and influence key decision-makers. Demonstrate experience working collaboratively and developing relationships with cross-functional teams, internal customers, other agencies, and third-party vendors.
  • Leadership: Proven experience in leading architectural projects and teams, with a track record of successful implementations. Demonstrate ability to solution projects and drive them through execution with cross team dependencies.
