Arbitrum information

What is Arbitrum?

Arbitrum is a layer 2 scaling solution for the Ethereum blockchain that aims to improve transaction speed and reduce costs while maintaining a high level of security. It operates by processing transactions off-chain and then posting summarized data back to the Ethereum mainnet, which helps alleviate network congestion. Arbitrum uses optimistic rollup technology to achieve this, making it popular for decentralized applications (dApps) and DeFi projects seeking better performance. Developers and users benefit from faster transactions and lower fees compared to using Ethereum directly.

What are the typical responsibilities of a developer working on the Arbitrum protocol?

As a developer on the Arbitrum protocol, you will typically work on building and maintaining Layer 2 scaling solutions for Ethereum, focusing on optimizing smart contract execution, improving network throughput, and ensuring security. Daily tasks often include contributing to open-source codebases, collaborating with cross-functional teams (such as security researchers and DevOps), and participating in code reviews. You may also engage with the broader developer community to support integration and provide technical guidance. Staying current with the latest advancements in blockchain technology and best practices is essential for success in this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Arbitrum Blockchain Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Arbitrum Blockchain Developer, you need a solid background in smart contract development, blockchain architecture, and a strong grasp of Ethereum-based technologies, typically supported by experience with Solidity and Layer 2 scaling solutions. Familiarity with tools such as Hardhat, Truffle, Arbitrum SDK, and version control systems like Git is essential, and certifications in blockchain development can be advantageous. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication help developers collaborate in decentralized teams and troubleshoot complex technical challenges. These skills are vital for building secure, efficient, and scalable decentralized applications on the Arbitrum network.

What is an Arbitrum job?

An Arbitrum job typically involves working with Arbitrum, a layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum that enhances transaction speed and reduces costs. Positions in this field may include blockchain developers, smart contract engineers, or ecosystem growth specialists. Responsibilities often involve developing or optimizing smart contracts, maintaining infrastructure, or contributing to the expansion of the Arbitrum ecosystem. Strong knowledge of Ethereum, Solidity, and rollup technology is usually required.

What is the difference between Arbitrum vs Blockchain Developer?

AspectArbitrumBlockchain Developer
Required CredentialsKnowledge of blockchain scaling solutions, smart contracts, and EthereumProficiency in blockchain programming languages (Solidity, Rust), smart contract development, and blockchain architecture
Work EnvironmentFocuses on Layer 2 scaling solutions, working with blockchain protocols and decentralized applicationsDevelops, tests, and deploys blockchain applications across various platforms and networks
Employer & Industry UsageUsed by blockchain projects to improve scalability on EthereumEmployed by blockchain companies, startups, and financial institutions for decentralized app development

While Arbitrum specializes in Layer 2 scaling solutions for Ethereum, Blockchain Developers create and maintain blockchain applications across multiple platforms. Both roles require blockchain knowledge, but Arbitrum focuses on scalability solutions, whereas Blockchain Developers work on the broader development of decentralized applications.

Job description

About Renegade

We're building the first dark pool built natively for onchain markets.

Renegade is an onchain dark pool, a private exchange for institutional crypto trading, fully onchain with no trusted intermediaries. In TradFi, dark pools account for roughly 40% of US equities volume. That entire layer of market structure barely exists in crypto.

Renegade brings that infrastructure to DeFi. We match orders at the midpoint of the Binance bid-ask spread, without moving the market, without leaking information, and without leaving the chain. Funds, solvers, and market makers that integrate with Renegade get better price execution, with savings on spreads, market impact, and fees.

Since launch on Arbitrum and Base, Renegade has processed $336M in all-time trading volume with $100M in daily order flow.

We've been live since late 2024, are well-funded by leading investors. We are a lean high-caliber team that works in person in San Francisco.

About The Role

We're hiring one DeFi-native BD to own the relationships between our customers.  In this role you'll shape how a genuinely novel piece of market structure gets adopted.

Drive go-to-market

Lead Renegade's go-to-market strategy, driving growth and integrations across onchain markets.

Translate market to product

Translate between customers and engineering, share customer signal back to the dev team to inform new product features and respond to the evolving demands of onchain markets

Source and grow pipeline

Own the top of the funnel: map who's moving size onchain, build relationships with the funds, desks, and market makers

Create the materials that win trading-native customers: TCA dashboards, execution-quality breakdowns, and "how to evaluate us" one-pagers that prove our edge in the language traders actually use.

About You

DeFi-native and trading-fluent.

You understand onchain market structure, execution, and how funds and market makers actually think. You've worked at (or close to) market-neutral/quant/execution teams, or built trading systems yourself.

You can translate DeFi mechanics into execution-native language (and you know what quants will scrutinize), and you're technical enough to go into data/code when needed

A real network in the space.

You're already in the flow, active in the right Telegram groups, DMs, and on CT, and you bring credibility, and can get a warm intro or a reply without starting cold.

Hands-on and self-directed.

You are organized and push things forward. You're comfortable being persistent, and have a bias for action. At a team this size, that instinct is the difference between a pipeline that moves and one that executes.

If this fits, we look forward to chatting!
