Job description

Career Renew is recruiting for one of its clients an Infrastructure/Backend Engineer - Crypto - this is a hybrid role in NYC. Salary range: 180-320K USD base plus tokens and equity.

We are the largest decentralized perpetual exchange on Arbitrum, processing over $20 billion in cumulative trading volume since launching in October 2024. We enable leveraged trading of real-world assets - commodities, forex, indices, and stocks - alongside crypto, bringing global markets onchain with full self-custody.

We are looking for a mid-level infrastructure/backend engineer to spearhead our ambitious efforts on the infrastructure side.

This engineer will work on the following:

- Migrating applications from a legacy infrastructure, to a robust, new infrastructure.

- Using 100% IaC to build, maintain, deploy, and manage applications and services. Decreasing latency, increasing visibility, and finding ways to give us an edge (real financial impact on the business).

- Empower every single developer at Ostium to self-serve: deploy new applications, request new infrastructure, monitor and alert - you name it.

We are building a state-of-the-art infrastructure layer that will allow engineers to self-serve 90% of their infrastructure needs. This will allow you to focus on higher-level projects and help us achieve ambitious goals.

Technical requirements:

- Core infrastructure fundaments (security, networking, access control, etc).

- Strong experience with kubernetes and kubernetes best practices.

- Hands-on experience with Terraform, ArgoCD, Github Action, Docker, Prometheus, and Grafana. Evangelist of Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

- Experience writing backend applications in Golang

- Experience with Postgres, Clickhouse, Dagster (Nice to have)

Characteristic Requirements

- Security Minded - Always looking to decrease security attack vectors.

- AI Power Users - Not a vibe coder, someone who leverages AI effectively, validates outputs, and builds guardrails.

- Solution Orientented - Engineers will have requests and needs; it's our job to make sure they can move as fast as possible.

- Prioritize And Act - Be a leader and take stock of what's needed, what will deliver the most value, and propose your own work and path forward.

- Humble and Willing to Learn - Be willing to learn from quants, engineers, ops team, and everyone at this company about everything. We have no room in this company for people stuck in their ways.

- Winner - This is a team sport, and there is a very real scoreboard. We want people who don’t care about scoring the most points. They only care about the team winning and will do whatever it takes.

- Disagree and Commit - Your voice will be heard and so will all your proposals and plans. But once a decision has been made, whether you agree or not, we expect 100% effort in execution.

What You Will Work On:

- Infrastructure Migration - As mentioned, we have a brand new infrastructure that we need to migrate our services to. You will help with this initiative.

Improve the New Stack - Find holes and gaps, prioritize them, and fill them. Come with both a critical lens and your toolbox.

- Stack Orchestrator - An in-hour testing and validation tool for the various parts of our stack locally. Make it mature so developers can run their application in 10 different ways locally and work effectively with multiple agents in parallel

- Latency - Decrease latency as much as we can for our critical path applications. This means both working with app teams + writing application code.

- Reliability and Security - Constantly thinking like a hacker who wants to take advantage of our system and bring it down. Leveraging AI tools and our existing test suite to coordinate contained attacks on our system.
