The Director of Supplier Quality Assurance is a key member of the Supplier Performance leadership team, responsible for a defined portion of Raytheon's total supplier base. The Director will drive the proactive and reactive quality assurance activities, ensuring continuous capability and performance improvements. This role leads to the implementation of Advanced Product Quality Planning across suppliers, ensuring compliance with technical, contractual, and regulatory requirements, as well as ensuring installed adequate Capacity at the supplier and their sub-Tiers. The role should protect Raytheon's production and reduce risk across all programs and business. Success will be measured in timely delivery of quality assured products (FAI and first-time yield of FAI), as well as ongoing supplier quality performance, and improvements, measured in escapes and PPM. This leader is accountable for developing and executing the Supplier Assurance strategy, enhancing supplier capability across a wide selection of production technologies. The director also builds, mentors, and grows a highly capable team to support long-term business objectives. What You Will Do * Lead qualification, assessment, and selection of program-specific suppliers, including evaluation of capabilities, performance history, and understanding of flow-down requirements.
* Oversee ongoing independent assessments of supplier quality and technical performance to ensure delivery of known-good parts and services throughout the acquisition value stream.
* Implement and sustain APQP and statistical process control methodologies across the supply base.
* Partner closely with Programs, Operations, Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain, and Quality to drive supplier execution strategies and achieve SBU goals.
* Lead Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) activities for systemic or high-risk supplier issues.
* Represent Raytheon on corporate sourcing and performance teams, translating corporate initiatives into supplier-level execution.
* Manage suppliers technical and quality risks affecting cost, schedule, and performance across more than $10B in annual material sales.
* Develop, mentor, and grow a geographically and technologically diverse team, improving overall organizational capability.
* Serve as the senior interface with supplier executive leadership, customers, and corporate stakeholders, actively negotiating terms and managing divergent viewpoints when resolving performance gaps.
* Ability to travel 75% of time to supplier locations as needed. Qualifications You Must Have * Typically requires: A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and minimum of fourteen (14) years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum of twelve (12) years' experience.
* Relevant experience is supplier quality, manufacturing engineering, operations, or other engineering fields
* 14 years of experience applying APQP, statistical process controls, RCCA, and other quality methodologies.
* Experience within aerospace and defense or similarly complex industries
* Experience leading and mentoring technical teams
* U.S. Citizen - The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Qualifications We Prefer * Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of supplier manufacturing output, extending beyond traditional quality-focused responsibilities.
* Proven leadership experience cultivating a high-performance culture, with an emphasis on driving outcomes rather than managing tasks.
* Background in Supplier Quality within industries that require true end-to-end responsibility (such as automotive or similarly complex, regulated environments).
* Experience leading production operations for highly engineered products in competitive markets, including responsibility for performance, delivery, and continuous improvement.
* Demonstrated leadership of multi-level teams (direct, indirect, matrixed) in a complex, global environment.
* Strong organizational partnership skills across engineering, operations, supply chain, program management, and finance.
* Ability to negotiate complex supplier performance issues and influence outcomes at executive levels.
* Experience managing suppliers across multiple regions and international markets.
* Background supporting defense programs, including familiarity with regulatory, contractual, and customer-specific requirements.
* Demonstrated capability building high-performing teams in technical, mission-critical domains. The salary range for this role is 186,200 USD - 353,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
