Apprentice-Electrician- Renewable Energyย 

SUPERVISOR:ย ย ย  Site Superintendentย 

CLASSIFICATION:ย ย ย Hourly non-exemptย 

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:ย 

We are searching for a driven, enthusiastic apprentice to join our Electrician four-year Registered Apprenticeship Program. The apprentice's responsibilities include learning and developing practical skills, participating in classes and workshops on and offsite, observing all health and safety codes, completing tests and assignments.ย ย ย 

As an Apprentice, you will be collaborating with other apprentices and attending workshops and classes where you will gain valuable knowledge from industry-recognized coursework and experienced journey workers in the craft. You will participate in learning opportunities, complete tests, assignments, and develop practical skills. Additionally, you will work within a specific department but also learn about other aspects of the industry.ย ย 

To be successful as an apprentice, you must have time management skills and be willing to fit into the existing staff structure. Outstanding apprentices are those who respond well to constructive criticism, build good relationships with colleagues, and take responsibility for their actions.ย  Those who want to lead and further their careers are strongly encouraged to apply.ย 

As an Electrician Apprentice, you will work under the guidance of a Journeyman level electrician.ย ย 

APPRENTICE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:ย 

  • On the job learningย ย 

  • Attending workshops and participating in assigned coursework.ย ย 

  • Assisting within the relevant department, but also learning about other aspects of the company.ย ย 

  • Observing health and safety procedures.ย ย 

  • Completing required hands-on evaluations and electronic testing.ย ย 

  • Traveling to assigned job sites when required.ย ย 

  • Positively receiving feedback.ย ย 

  • Building professional relationships with colleagues and clients.ย ย 

TERM OF APPRENTICESHIPย ย 

The term of the apprenticeship is four years with an on-the-job training attainment of 8,000 hours, supplemented by the minimum required 576 hours of related technical instruction and coursework.ย ย ย 

APPRENTICE WAGE SCHEDULEย ย 

Apprentices shall be paid a progressively increasing schedule of wages based on either a percentage or a dollar amount of the current hourly journey-worker wage rate.ย ย

1000 OJL Hours = 55%ย 

2nd Training Periodย 

1000 OJL Hours = 60%ย 

3rd Training Periodย 

1000 OJL Hours = 65%ย 

4th Training Periodย 

1000 OJL Hours = 70%ย 

5th Training Periodย 

1000 OJL Hours = 75%ย 

6th Training Periodย 

1000 OJL Hours = 80%ย 

7th Training Periodย

8th Training Periodย

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:ย 

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.ย ย ย ย 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:ย 

  • Able to work in varying temperatures.ย ย ย 

  • Able to work outside.ย ย 

  • Able to interface with electronic devices (computers and tablets) in an electronic learning platform required.ย ย 

  • Able to use printed materials for classroom education required. ย ย 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:ย 

  • The applicant must be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the apprenticeship program, with or without reasonable accommodation, and without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of the individual or others.ย ย ย 

LEARNING AND TESTING:ย 

  • Our program will utilize NCCER for electronic learning and testing.ย  NCCER is recognized by the construction industry as a training, assessment, certification and career development standard for the construction and maintenance craft professional.ย  Apprentices in the Electrician program will receive accredited instruction in topics to include job site and general workplace safety, installing and maintaining electrical systems, reading and interpreting National Electrical Code for proper selection and installation for solar photovoltaic and energy storage systems, blueprints and construction drawings, electrical construction quality control, and team building.ย 

  • Upon completion of the four-year program, Electrician apprentices are strongly encouraged to sit for the Commercial Electrician Journeyman licensure examination in their respective jurisdiction.ย ย ย 

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:ย 

  • This is a full-time hourly position with possible overtime.ย 

TRAVEL:ย 

  • Ability and willingness to travel to various job locations as required.ย ย ย ย ย ย

To qualify for the apprenticeship program, applicants must either be employees of Gridworks, Inc. or employees of a contractor, subcontractor, or other entity performing construction work on a Gridworks-contracted project, and such employer must have executed an Employer Acceptance Agreement with Gridworks.ย
