Job description

General Definition and Conditions of Work The Carrboro Recreation, Parks, & Cultural Resources Department is seeking qualified individuals to umpire Youth Baseball games. Candidates with previous umpiring experience are preferred, but umpiring experience is not required. Baseball/Softball playing or coaching experience and sound baseball rules knowledge is highly desirable.

Play is governed by local league rules and National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) rules. Training will be provided prior to the season. Spring Baseball games are primarily played Friday evenings and Saturdays September through late October with some weekday evenings games.

Individuals hired may also have the potential to officiate other league play offered during the year (such as Youth Basketball and Spring Baseball). Age groups include 6-8, 9-10, and 11-12. Flexible scheduling exists with umpires being assigned 2-6 games per week.
